Anyone doing either of these in March or have any experience with Raleigh Rocks?  Looks like the Tobacco Road one is new this year.

I am doing the Tobacco Road marathon. It will be my first. I am using it to focus on improving my running in the off season. 18 miles of it are on the ATT, it is mostly flat and being on 3/21 it should be cooler and therefor good for a person who perspires a LOT, like me.

Ive done the raleigh rocks half. Its a fun run. with a little challenge around mile 8. It is mostly flat until you get to the museum area. That was my 1st half in 08 and a great' run. Lots of participants and support. Parking downtown can get a little sketchty and checkin was crowded, but other than that- the downtown start/finish is a nice touch.

The ATT is not real wide.  I wonder how that will work out with the number of participants.  I guess it would be ok if I start with the right pace group.  That is a lesson I learned well from my first half!

I'm leaning towards the Tobacco Trail run only because that weekend fits my schedule better.  But Raleigh Rocks looks fun too.  Decisions, decisions...

I would have rather done Myrtle Beach in Feb, but it's already full.

Apparently there will be a second chance on January 11th to register for the Umstead Marathon March 6th. See there website for details.

If you're going to do a marathon, do a tough and fun one.

Ouch.  Thunder Road was bad enough!  How long can I get away with the excuse that I'm new?

You're already a stronger runner than me.... I've got a 12 miler this weekend that I'm worrying about.

Are you doing Beaver Dam for sure?  Noticed it on your 2010 goals.  That's on my tentative schdule too.

It's still tentative for me. The cold water has me a bit nervous and it's so hard to get good bike training in over the winter. Hopefully I'll get some warm cycling clothes for Christmas.

This is my 3rd season with an oly as a goal, so I better do one. I'm considering doing Kerr Lake instead, but Beaverdam is closer and Kerr Lake is the day after a small race I like to do (Gary Kirby).
