Subject: Silly Question Re: Tri Suit
So....I got my first tri suit for my upcoming sprint (this weekend).

This is silly, and a little embarassing, but should I be wearing underwear under the tri suit?!  It seems to defeat the purpose for the tri-suit in some ways (drying post-swim), but I also don't want to be "that person" who is going commando when I shouldn't be!!!

Any thoughts?

I just wear the suit, as do most people I know.

That all depends... does it have bike padding?  Depends on how much anatomy it shows (in my experiences with tri suits).

I have a light blue tri suit that my wife banned from events since the last time I raced in it and we looked at post race photos... it showed more than I cared to reveal in public.  I now have a black suit that isn't as bad, but the wife still suggests some under armor shorts.

It might also matter what gender you are.

I actually feel more comfortable with a pair of under armor spandex shorts under my tri suit.  Less chafing.

All depends on what makes you comfortable but there's no set rule for it.

no underwear.  ESPECIALLY not cotton - it chafes and it defeats the purpose of the trisuit.  If you MUST wear underwear, get some wicking types to wear.

Wearing cotton underwear after a swim would be like wearing a wet diaper for the bike and run... no thanks!

Nope and there's a very real reason that black is the proper colour of shorts to wear

Thanks everyone! The responses definitely helped bring up my confidence! After a quick water test, then a check in the mirror, if all things are decently covered, I will be "rocking the onesie"!!~alisonPS- I got the 2XU Endurance. I think it might be from a few seasons ago, but I got a great deal online, and it fits and feels great! I can't wait to wear it thsi Sunday in it's first official event!!!
