Pre-race routine:

up at 6, oatmeal with pb and honey, coffee. re-check the bags, wake the family up and on the road by 7. gel 20 min before race, drank some endurance
Event warmup:

ran just a bit to get a feel for the hip. jumped into the lap pool...very warm! goggles were leaking so grabbed the spare pair.

  • 500 yards
  • 02m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

never got into a rhythm, only hit 1 flip turn! Actual swim time was 9:50 though.
What would you do differently?:

got a few tips from the swim coach there so will work on these things, also work on transition

  • 01m 2s
Comments:

this was just getting bike shoes, helmet and glasses on. added the layers in the pool area.
What would you do differently?:

just more practice!
Bike
  • 46m 59s
  • 13.7 miles
  • 17.50 mile/hr
Comments:

took a bit to get into a groove, but once down in areo I felt great! still really need to work on cornering and when/what gear on the hills.
What would you do differently?:

more practice, ride with people more!
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

still need to work on balance as I change shoes.
What would you do differently?:

just more practice.
Run
  • 27m 26s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

tight off the bike but hit a good stride once over the first hill, hip was ok until I hit the boardwalk, very slippery! took it easy over this, smooth sailing after..until I hit the last hill! Then as I reached the top i heard someone behind me..it was Brent Emery...all I thought was don't let him pass you! I found a kick at the end and took off..he never passed me:)
What would you do differently?:

I have been adding distance to my runs and not focused on speed as much...maybe add a speed day?
Post race
Warm down:

walked around with my support crew! Food and conversation with friends!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Have been having hip issues for about a month now, will get it taken care of so I am good to go for Racine!

Living in Stoughton, I bike on A LOT of hills.  SO my definition of gentle rollers, is skewed a bit.  I did this race 2 years ago and my definition has changed since then too!
