Ha ha!  I have the same perfect world!  I totally agree.

At least if it does rain, it will be about 40 degrees warmer than it was in April!

Farlig - 2010-06-08 11:05 AM As much as I disliked the rain at the Ironman ride, the wind was what killed it for me.

On Saturday, I'll tolerate a little rain (so long as my running shoes don't get too squishy), just as long as the wind behaves itself for the bike.

In a perfect world the temps would stay in the mid-60s with overcast skies and a 5-10mph breeze.  Then again, in a perfect world I would average 27mph on the bike, pull in 5:30 splits on the run and not have to worry about finishing before the awards ceremony was done.  *sigh*

Can the race be moved to Sunday?

Its going to suck on Saturday. Do they stop the race if there is lightening?

1.) I don't see a slip to Sunday being possible - volunteer schedules, road closures, permits etc etc simply wouldn't permit it
2.) Yes, it looks like it is indeed going to suck.  Bring a trash bag to put your transition bag in.
3.) Yes, the swim will almost certainly be canceled if lightning is a threat, and the other events may too (depending on how severe).

I'm trying to stay positive here, but that forecast keeps getting worse & worse...

Cheers, Chris

Yeah, I was part of a duathlon (no swimming involved) last spring where we had a late start because of lightening. So let's hope for none on Saturday. And I agree with a lot of you - some light rain on the run would be GREAT! Those little rolling hills on that bike trail where we run start to get WARM!

See you all out there! My wife's doing the half (I'm just doing the Oly), so I'll be hanging around for quite some time afterwards. Hoping for a good BBQ!!

I should have used some other font when I asked if the race could be moved to Sunday. Yea, I know its not going to happen.

Anyone want to make a last minute road trip out to Boise? Weather looks perfect and the race is still open.

It's still only Wednesday, anything can change between now and then.  I'd be okay with cancelling the swim, although I imagine the bike and run in those conditions would be scary.    Maybe just a nice 10k and call it a day?

Steve - I'll be looking for you after I'm finished with the Oly.  Swing by the finish line around the 3 hour mark and cheer for me

If and of you faster folks could run back up the Oly course and pace me back in I'd really appreciate it   I need a boost from the turnaround until about mile 5.   At least I know it's downhill from there. (Kidding of course, I wouldn't want anyone to be disqualified)

I'll be wearing the same black GWTC two-piece outfit that some of the faster girls wear.  I always feel a little guilty wearing that, since I am so much slower than the other gals who sport it.  But in the same sense, I hope it will provide me with some of their speed.   So when you pass me on the run, say hi!

Picture from Buffalo 2009, but I always have the same gear including hat:

Weather forecast this morning looks much more promising.  Strong storms for Friday, but just a 30% chance of rain Saturday with a high of only 68!

That would be awesome!  Can't wait to see what they say on Friday night during the news.  Fingers crossed! And, every bit of rain and coolness helps me get one step closer to being able to depend on my wetsuit

I think it is a safe bet that this will be a wetsuit legal swim

BTW, is there a BT gathering set up for before the race?

Re: Meetup, nothing planned yet.

How about meeting at 7:00?  We could meet near the "Swim In" entrance to transition?  That's the least confusing place I can think of, but I am open to suggestions.

A pre-race meet up sounds great.  I'll be wearing my obnoxiously orange shorts in transition.  My race get-up is a black, white, and blue trisuit.

I wrote off the long course since my daughter qualified for State prelims.  I went to Running Room today in Eden Prairie and picked up my packet anyways and had them switch me to the Olympic distance JUST IN CASE my daughter didn't make it to finals in one event.  I may see a few of you Saturday if that's the case.  I'll have enough time to race and make it to Hamline for the other event.

Look for the short (5' 6") Filipino in a blue General Mills tri top.
