Subject: Bike ride turned date!?!
I took my new bike (to me) out for our very first ride after work on Sunday around 5pm and I was really so excited for it. About five miles in, I blew past a guy who turned out to be in his 35th mile (so it didn't really mean much that I passed him so easy). I had to stop for a crosswalk and he caught up to me and laughed about how I just passed him like he was standing still. We started talking and after riding a few miles together we exchanged numbers as potential riding partners. I'm a girl just in case you were wondering.

With absolutely no intention of considering him for anything other than a riding partner, we rode again today about 20 miles and we talked and laughed the entire time while trying to be serious about the work out. LOL After the ride he talked me into getting some pizza and then we went for ice cream. Still sweaty and gross we hung out for another two hours. It was one of those nights you can't plan no matter how hard you try. Who knows where it will go, but I just had to share that I met a cool guy on a bike path...something that NEVER happens to me having been single for eons. We're hanging out again tomorrow sans the bikes.

I had something similar happen once. Guy I barely knew invited himself on a ride I was doing. We dated for 3 years. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Haha!!! Thanks everyone! It was all very fun and innocent. I haven't been on a date for so long that I didn't really recognize it had turned into a date until later on. I'm trying not to get too excited about it since I usually end up disappointed...hopefully he's different.

I don't think you understand what we mean by "pizza" and "ice cream" around here.  Otherwise I am pretty sure you have recognized it as a date.

I was out riding on a popular multi use path and rode past a male cyclist off his bike talking to a female runner. Both had their cell phones out and I assume they were exchanging numbers.

Hope it works out for you, in whatever way you want it to work out.

Hey, I always recommend being yourself but one suggestion...  while out on a ride with him, stay away from Red Bull, Lays Chips and Hot Tamales.  Finally, DON'T GO TO THE BATHROOM ON THE BIKE!

Glad you said you are a girl cause from your avatar I though you were a turtle.

Hope this works out for you!  I met a girl through running almost 20 years ago. We just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary on June 1st!  Two kids...it's been awesome (but we seldom bike or run together anymore).

He doesn't Tri, he just started riding this year to get in shape and do some cycling events for a cause. I'm going to have to tell him that evidently hard core cyclists pee in their shorts...that's just crazy talk right there! LOL

Okay so my friend just texted me what "pizza" and "ice cream" is on BT! That makes my original post even more hilarious since I didn't have a clue! LOL

So does this mean you meant actual pizza and ice cream, rather than the sluttier BT versions?  It makes for a much less exciting story, though.

Yes, yes! It is the much less exciting version but I used to be the one rushing for the "pizza" and "ice cream" in the past which has obviously not worked to my benefit in more ways than one. LOL SO, I'll take this less slutty version for now in hopes that great "pizza" and "ice cream" are soon to follow.

That's so weird, almost the same thing happened to me.

I was at the end of my long ride when this cutie blew past me.  We got to talking at the intersection and agreed to meet for another training ride.

The next ride was great and we talked and laughed the entire time . . . .  WHOA, Hey, wait a minute!!!

Well, turns out all he wanted was the "pizza" and "ice cream" instead of something more. I have to commend him on his tenacity at trying to score building it up since Sunday but after a good try I held my ground and he's probably home taking care of himself as I write this. Even though it's been a while for me and I LOVE "pizza" and "ice cream" I've already done the fling thing and I'm not interested. I guess next time when I blast past a guy I'll just keep going. Undecided

I'm royally bummed especially since yesterday was so great.
