Go to the Yahoo groups page and search for 'Yriders' and ask to be a member. They typically ride every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6:30am and Saturday early around 7 am. A hand full of them are doing tirathlons. Olys and HIM. Two are doing Lake Placid IM. If you have trouble finding it let me know and I will see if I can help you out.

We have been trying to organize open water swims in the Susquehanna where a few guys will bring their kayaks for support etc. I just recently joined up with them so I am still trying to get everyone's name straight but they have been a very friendly and welcoming group. I hope to see you out on a ride soon!

Brandon

excited to do this race....went to college up the road at U of D, I can remember playing golf at Chesapeake Bay Club when it first opened.

I also remember camping at Elk Neck as a kid.

I am training with a much greater level of intensity than I did for my first race.  I have been going non-stop since my painful result at Assateague.

I want to see what the difference is.

I'm in as the swimmer on an Oly relay team. I'm psyched that I get to race AND support jgoldsbo, my 2-time relay buddy.

thanks!! I'm sooo glad your going to be there.  Now I'm not nervous anymore- just really, really excited!

We're down in OC this week so I was going to attempt several BRICKs since I can just lie flat the rest of the day if needed

This should be so much fun!

You need to add this to your race calendar (and take down RI HIM)

There's going to be a good number of BTers there; maybe we can plan a meetup.

So my gf and I had an idea. We'll both be at the tri and she's got a sweet sun shade canopy she got for raising a bunch of money at her last tri. We could have an official or unofficial BT tent if people want. Give racers and family/friends a place hang before/after/during. No idea if this is ok to do, but thought I'd throw it out. If people want, we could check with cgi and BT to see if they'd have a problem. Thoughts?

I love that idea.  I always make plans to meet up with fellow BT-ers at races and never do.  I think you would just need to clear it through CGI.  I'm not familiar with the transition area and surrounding areas, so I have no idea how much extra space they have.

Great idea!

As I recall, there's a good amount of open space in the park where a tent could be put up. Probably wouldn't hurt to check with the race director anyway.

I think that is a good idea as well. In case you havent looked yet there is a section under amenities called "tri club corner" that the orgnaizer reserves for clubs to tailgate. They have the email of the person to contact to reserve the space listed in the racelink.

I had not checked anything yet, I'll look for what you mentioned when i do. Been living off my phone for a week on vacation and for a race and wanted to make sure people would want to do it. I'm working out of the office for a few days but once I'm back working at my desk I'll have the free time to look into it .

It would be sweet to have an unofficial BTMD tent.  I have a small portable gas grill I could bring... it would be sweet for all the other racers to have to suffer when they smelled our burgers/dogs cooking away at the finish.  I know my wife would enjoy the shade and company while getting friendly with her mike's hard lemonade too.

I think your wife and my wife would be instant best friends in the shade with some Mike's Hard Lemonade (her favorite)!

So we are going to Ice one another at the finish somehow right?
Anyone watch tosh.0? They had a good bit on what you should do it you get iced. This all sounds good. Squatsauce volunteered to email cgi about getting the approvals so say thanks to him and I think we'll be good to go!

I had mentioned in my note to JSiegs that I am a commercial real estate developer and the market has provided me with plenty of free time!I emailed the contact over at CGI. They will reserve an area for us under BTMD. I asked for more detail on the size of the area, permissable uses of the area such as typical tailgating activites..grill, keg, spartan wrestling, dirt eating etc. When I learn more I will post the info. Great idea and I am looking forward to meeting everyone to put a face with the names.Cheers,Brandon

Just as an FYI, I just completed the Diamond in the Rough Oly, it was changed to a Duathlon in the end (due to visibility, heavy storms) but the swim was not going to be wetsuit legal.

Last year NE was not wetsuit legal, I would expect the same this year. The swim was lovely last year.

Tent sounds fantastic.

Just to close the loop on the tent. Michele Redrow at CGI said in an email that there is " a lot of space so you can spread out ..yes to tail gate and grilling". It's on.

I was at the Diamond in the Rough too. I looked for some of the BT folks but didnt see any.

I'm looking forward to the post-race festivities.  By my calculations, I can put a beer on ice and start defrosting Joe's hamburger when I cross the line.  By the time he finishes, I'll just be putting the cheese on the burger and ready to pull that icy cold beer out of the cooler.

I'm also considering bringing my boat, which would be able to take up to 6 of you at a time waterskiing/wakeboarding afterwards... if there is any interest.  I've skiied launching from the park before and generally you can find some pretty good water.

I'm pretty much committed to Lum's Pond that day. My SO wants to do the Du. I'm going to check the logisitics to see if we can make it to North East to hang with the BT group and go out on the boat!!
