JoshKaptur - 2010-07-14 11:19 AMI'm looking forward to the post-race festivities.  By my calculations, I can put a beer on ice and start defrosting Joe's hamburger when I cross the line.  By the time he finishes, I'll just be putting the cheese on the burger and ready to pull that icy cold beer out of the cooler.

I'm also considering bringing my boat, which would be able to take up to 6 of you at a time waterskiing/wakeboarding afterwards... if there is any interest.  I've skiied launching from the park before and generally you can find some pretty good water.
Yeah, I have no doubts on that. I'm just not sure CGI will let you start on Saturday...

Ah, I'm bummed that I won't be in town for this race.  I've already committed to something else that weekend (...and the rest of my life thereafter!)  Hope you all have a great race and a fun after-party!

Also if the after event party gets old the Nauti Goose is a restuarant - bar adjacent to the park right on the water. It can be a fun place when the outlaw biker gangs are not in town.

I just signed up for the Oly this morning; I'm really looking forward to it.  This will be my tune-up race before Syracuse 70.3.  I'm actually glad the swim will probably not be wetsuit legal - I tend to have better swims without the wetsuit.  I train nearby on a regular basis (off 273/near Elkton), so I'm guessing that's what the terrain is like.  I may be able to get out to the course before race day to do some surveying, but I'm not too worried if I can't.

Sounds like some great post-race plans are in the works!

I'm planning to get up there sometime soon as well.  I work in Edgewood, so I'll hop up 95 one day after work.  Could meet up with people if there's interest.

I live off 273 in Fairhill so I train in the area all the time. Let me know when you guys want to get together and I will meet up with you. I am fairly flexible so I can meet up early morning, mid day or after work. I am getting ready to do ride along 273 in about 15 minutes or so.

As the race gets closer, please RSVP here for waterskiing/wakeboarding.  I know there will be some tired legs... should make for some spectacular falls   No experience neessary... I teach people all the time (with mixed results, but usually success).

I won't bring the boat (just an extra headache) unless there's a crew.

Joe - I say loser has to take a turn in the tube with the winner driving the boat

OK I finally got around to signing up for the Sprint. This will be my first ever Tri.  Really looking forward to it, but being realistic I'm  somewhat nervous.  I'll try to stay out of everybodys way as I trudge around the course. Will try to stop by the post race festivities and meet everyone. ( oh and I'll have a few brews in tow with me).

That's awesome Guy. Good luck.

I'll be over at Lum's Pond for a race but will be coming over to North East for the festivities.

Cool, thanks! Hopefully Larry and Michelle take care of all that gravel -- they are pretty good about that sort of stuff!

I've volunteered at this race before, but have never actually seen the entire bike course . I will just take it as I go...

trotpntbll - 2010-08-06 2:22 PM Just got back from riding the course and a few things that may be note worthy for those who have not rode the course. (I rode the Oly route).

-Parts of McKinneytown road are not smooth, I was standing/ squating and my bike was bouncing all over the place.
-Be careful of the left off of Jones Chapel Rd onto Old Elk Neck Rd, somewhat sharp and assuming guards are at the stop signs there was a HUGE patch of gravel across the road mouth that almost took me down and the guy riding with me.
-Expect Old Neck Road to be bumpy and vibrate a lot.
-Be careful turning right onto Irishtown Rd, if you are going to fast you may be pushed towards the middle of the road, which I did, hitting yet another patch of gravel, which resulted in my face up at the sky after doing an awesome cirque du soleil move over my handle bars.

It was an awesome course, but I can see how parts can be tricky if groups start to get all clumped together and there were a few spots were we hugged the double yellows since the road was pretty rough. Nice little climbs though.

Great review. You going to shoot them an email with the info? I am sure they would want to take care of some of those things. i.e gravel or mark the bad sections

With one week to go, I wanted to check in and verify the following:

- are we having a BTMD tent????
- I am bringing a small gas grill and some brats and a cooler filled with a limited supply of adult beverages
- please RSVP if you are interested in a bit of waterskiing/wakeboarding/tubing after the race... I won't tow the boat up there unless a handfull of you commit.  Note - this boating invite is to any BTer + his/her partner (if applicable)... no small children please.

Like Josh, I wanted to verify that we're having a tent. I was thinking of bringing watermelon; how many people (racers and family) should we plan for?Josh, thanks for the offer, but no boating for me this time.

I am not a MDer, but I may swing by and say HI. I don't anticipate staying very long, though, so don't worry about me for food, etc.

Good luck on Sunday!

I'll be there with my fiance and her tent.  At least one or two chairs, but it may be a good idea for anyone coming to bring a few too.  I'll pack a cooler with some refreshments.

I am going to try to stop by and say hello / meet everyone, but probably won't stay long. My wife and 3 sons (8-13y.o)  will be in tow and I'm pretty sure we'll be taking them up to the Cecil County Dragway for the Sunday racing while we are in the neighborhood.

Hello-I have a question about the race. This will be my first big event like this and I am now considering coming up Sunday morning instead of Saturday. What would be a good time to shoot for to get to the transition area as I don't want to be "too early" and waste sleeping time. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks!
