Swim
Comments: This swim was a disaster!!! There were so many people in the water that it was like playing "dodge swimming". When we started out one of the women at the FOP tried to push me down...OH NO YOU DONT!!!! I pulled my head up and with the next stroke made a fist and bopped her. I pulled ahead and she didnt bother me again. I actually swam under a few women and over a few but I refused to go around. It was crazy. What would you do differently?: Get to my wave on time!!!! Transition 1
Comments: Because my registration got screwed up I was about as far back in transition as you could get!!!! Area E and the signs only went to D!!!!! Bike
Comments: I had a great bike . Took my time climbing the hill. I do not think I have ever said on your left in a race as much as I did during this race. At about mile 10 some stupid guys in a car decided that they would get ahead of me and I think they were trying to clock my speed. They were really putting me and the other racers in danger so I hauled up on the side of them and told them to "GET OFF THE ROAD THEY WERE GOING TO HURT SOMEONE" The crowds along the side of the road yelled at them too and they finally pulled off. Sipped on my gatorade on the rollers What would you do differently?: Nothing! Transition 2
Comments: Had a great transition. Saw my husband who was volunteering at the bike exit and stopped for a kiss...I know its a race...but I am not going to Kona!!! What would you do differently?: Not a thing Run
Comments: After about 1/2 mile I noticed that my feet hurt which was very strange because I have had zero problems. It then occured to me that I forgot to take my orthotics out of my bike shoes....I knoew that this would be a somewhat painful run, and it was. I did a 5:1 run walk and I was able to finish. I would love to be a runner someday it might happen!!!! What would you do differently?: Remember my orthotics Post race
Warm down: Got some water and waited for my mentees to finish. I saw most of them cross the finish line. It was the best part of my day!!!!! Last updated: 2010-07-24 12:00 AM

This tri was the first race that I did 4 years ago and got me addicted to this sport. So although it is a newbie race, I have tried to do the race each year. This year I mentored 15 women who were doing their first tri. It was a blast watching these women learn to swim and bike. Each one had thier hurdles to overcome but all went into the race fairly cofident in their individual abilities.
I worked the night before the race...now becoming a familiar routine! I was able to get out at 7 pm and headed home. KOM spent the nite and we watched the TdF. I had a beer and went to bed. All my stuff had been gathered up earlier in the day.
Up at 4:30 without an alarm. Ate a bagel and peanut butter and coffee. We left the house at 5:15. It is truely a God awful hour and the part of triathlon I dislike the most. Got to the event and road my bike with KOM to transition. Set up my stuff and met up with my mentees on the beach. They were so excited and had a few last minute questions.Took so pics and everyone seperated. I was in wave 18...of a 1/2 mile swim...it was a long wait. So I sat in the water and was chatting with a woman who was doing Timberman. The next thing I know my wave is in the water. SHEETT!!! I ran and put my cap and goggles on. Pushed my way to the front just in time for the start.
