Ever since last Saturday, I haven't been able to upload any workouts. It says apload complete and just stays there, never shows any workouts?

Couple questions:

-Does it say "upload complete" or "Transfer Complete"?
-What model Garmin do you have?
-What version of Communicator?

Another member was experiencing this last week. We determined that it was failing in the Garmin code and she was going to contact Garmin Customer Support. I've sent her a message asking if she was able to get a resolution.

In the mean time:

Go here and let us know if it works:

http://developer.garmin.com/web/communicator-api/apidemo/garminDeviceControlDemo.html

Click "Find Devices"
then set the File Type to "TCX History (all)"
then click "Read from Device"

At the top of the page, underneath where it says "Garmin Plugin Test Page" it will display the status of the read. If it's working correctly it should change from "Transfer Complete" to a list of workouts.

If it doesn't change, that will help pinpoint where the process is failing.

I have that problem every now and then when my computer is not performing up to snuff.  Typically when it happens I find that my computer is running at 100% usage to do nothing but surf the 'net.

I also find that it happens less if I keep the directory cleared out where the files are stored.  I now archive them by month so it has fewer files to search through.  Probably has something to do with computer speed as well!

exactly same thing happening to me.  When I go to your link it just says transfer complete but doesn't list anything at all.  On the training plan it says transfer complete and the upload button never appears, I've waited for an hour and nothing.  I'm not computer savvy so any help would be great.  I have downloaded tons of training sessions and just started having the problem this week.

Have you tried clearing old files out of the History directory on your computer as Jen suggested? You can find it here:

C:/Users/(Your user name)/AppData/Roaming/GARMIN/Devices/(Your device id number*)/History

Also, that link isn't ours, it's Garmin's. It's on Garmin.com. If the process is failing on that page it indicates that the upload is failing in Garmin's software somewhere.  We are looking into this to see if there's anything we can do on our end, but we may have to get Garmin Customer Service involved.

That's a generic file name and shouldn't be removed. What you're looking to do is remove all the old tcx files from that directory. Leave the most recent ones, say ten or so.

Hi Guys. I was having the same problem a few weeks back with my 310. I simply hit the upload button and it says transfer complete but does not show any data. So I decided to wait a few seconds to see and the transfer was successful. It might take a few seconds longer for longer workouts. So point is just try to wait a minute to see if the upload cycles through.

Note: When I initially had the problem I did not download anything new or delete any files as my other training logs were working fine with uploads.

jldicarlo, Thanks a million for sharing this tip. I knew the Garmin history files were being stored somewhere, but I was unable to find them on my computer because that directory was hidden. Now I am archiving my history files too and the upload time to my training log is amazingly fast. Thanks again! Smile

Also, thank you marmadaddy for the directory location.

You don't have to know it. It will just be a folder with a long number as its name.  Just look in there and you'll see the History folder.
