Doing IMCDA in a couple of weeks and am really thinking of signing up for this when I get back. Checked on hotel rooms at the Hotel Breakers today and plenty of rooms left.

So this bike course? I hear a bunch of different things. Some say pretty flat with rollers, others say challenging climbs? What gives?

It all depends on where you are training at. This course will be "rollers" for me, because I do rides with 2,000-4,000 feet of climbing over only 30-50 miles up here in Alaska. The hills in Sandusky don't stand a chance!

You can go on the website and they point out each hill and the elevation gain. It is all in the hundreds of feet, so not bad IMO!

Mike you won't have any issues with the course.  It had more rollers then I thought possible for that part of Ohio, but that's because I was expecting pancake flat.  I rode it a couple of times last year but didn't race it.  There are a couple of areas with false flats, and a couple of hills but the only hill I might consider challenging is one as you enter the city of Milan but it's real short and only difficult because it's kinda of a blind turn off the hwy onto a side street.  Seemed like a bad set up as they could turn you into Milan to make the turn around further down the hwy.  Otherwise I'd be more worried about winds then hills.

Cool thanks, that is sorta what I figured with the times I have been near that area. I keep doing these IM's with hilly bike courses  KY, WI, CDA and I suck on hills so want to see what a flatter course feels like again.

No real hills to speak of.  The wind is the hard part of the race.

I know I got this info in an email, but don't remember exactly--the drink on the course will be Gatorade Endurance? or is it Gatorade Pro 2. All these new Gatorade products confuse me!

Usually, the stuff on the race course is the powder form, correct?

There is also a deceivingly difficult portion in vermilion heading south that has a false flat that will put your legs to work trying to maintain a good pace. ....... Adam

Hi Everyone!

The Cleveland Triathlon Club has the Rev3 Cedar Point preview days scheduled for July 23 and August 20.  The days will begin at 7AM with Check in and a short swim clinic presented by Liquid Lifestyles.  The ride will be your choice of a 58 mile loop or a 2 loop pass for 100 miles.  Much of the ride is on the actual CP course.

Check out our website for more info.  We do request an RSVP for the days!

Training is going great! Rode 120 miles yesterday and ran 16 this morning, gonna do back to back century rides on Friday-Saturday.

I am excited, a little nervous for how race day conditions will be as far as wind; gonna try to take it easy on the bike so I can actually enjoy the run, but if it is too windy I know I'll spend more energy on the bike course than I would like.

Running came to an end, but now back again. Damage control at this point and just taking it easy. Swimming is starting to SUCK, especially those long steady swims. Biking is good. Rode 85 last weekend and will probably do about 95 this weekend.

Hey everyone - have been reading this thread since training started, and just now chiming in... Only a couple big weeks of training left for me, then taper.  Nervous, but stoked for what will be my first Full Distance triathlon!

Look forward to meeting some folks up there!

Cheers,

What does everyone have on the calendar for this weekend of training and the upcoming weeks? I've got a big day planned this Saturday (swim, long bike, couple hour run), recovery/test week next week, and then peak/taper starts... can't believe that it's already so close!

Cheers,

-E

Big ride this weekend and next, last big run this weekend, 2 more big swims (but at easy pace). Did a 2 mile swim race last sunday, puts me on pace for under a 2 hour swim finish. Bike has come along nicely. Going to be walking most of the marathon but thats ok. Just looking to finish.

I've been back in Alaska from my month in Mississippi since Friday. The temperature difference from  90-107 degrees to 60-65 degrees is awesome!

This week I have a lot of running to do, 40 miles total, I am at 29 so far. Next week is 300 miles of cycling, with 6 hours of hard mountain work for one of my bike workouts. Then comes taper for like 10-12 days, it is exciting!

Wish I could make it for the preview, but it's a long way from FL just for the preview weekend. Hoping there are some reports about road conditions, etc. from anyone that makes it.
