Trying to get a jump on next season, seriously considering changing both design and manufacturer of our tri club's uniforms. Any recommendations or experiences to share?Club now has 90 members. Typical order in the past has been 24-30 of each piece, tops and bottoms. We've been paying about $50 per piece but wouldn't mind paying a little extra for quality and good customer service, help on the design would be a plus. Any of you creative types who want to take a stab at redesign, just let me know.

Slight hijack - I was thinking of putting together something just for myself. Do these places do one-off's or is there a minimum?

Thanks!

We're currently with Sugoi, not that happy with the service. Looking hard at epix. Funny that the two were first mentioned.

triarcher - 2010-10-28 4:03 PMDeSoto does.  Also Kiwami.

You know I would love to help with a redesign.  Same logo? Same colors??
Same logo, probably. Same colors, maybe not. A lot of members aren't fans of the yellow. Some are, though.

Team Turbo Donkey/Tri Donkai has used Champion System and has had good success with them.  Relatively inexpensive and you can do min of 10.  They actually have a design your own kit program i think for singles but you obviously pay more since the customizatino isnt broken out over multiple jerseys.

I just ordered from ATAC sportswear. Reasonable and fast. We had our order turned around in 6 weeks. We used one of their semi-custom templates and our own logo. We've had a lot of compliments on them.

Lots of fun to just play with their semi-custom design template maker.

We used the new "Trax" design: (scroll down for photos)

If you want, I can mail you a set to check out. I'm not affiliated with them- just a satisfied customer!

Our club uses Voler (www.voler.com).  The club is mainly a road racing club, but we have a handful of triathletes and a few mountian bikers.  We have around 80 members, and the volume pricing is very good.  I've had team kits from LG, Hincapie, Champion Systems, and Voler.

IMHO, the combination of quality and price from Voler is hard to beat.

Was the sizing from ATAC accurate?  I thought of doing a custom jersey this year for my Ironman, but would have preferred to have a sample to try on before ordering.  Since they didn't provide samples, I didn't want to risk it.   May look into them in the future, so I'm curious about the sizing.

I felt that the sizing at ATAC ran true to size. I think when we ordered people were conservative and ordered larger than what they thought they might need. So, we had to switch some sizing around, but otherwise, very happy with the products and graphics. I've competed at both a Sprint & Olympic distance and it was comfortable. Personally, I don't think the bike pad would be sufficient for a 70.3 or longer race, but that's just me.

Hey Bear....LA Tri Club just notified us that K-Swiss will now be doing their gear....so I would contact them.

Considering that I feel their Pro kits, Lieto, Dibens etc are the best looking kits out there, I'm excited to see what the club puts out.

Triarcher is right. A friend of mine races for Avia and wears the skull stuff and said BettyDesigns (www.bettydesigns.com)  did that design.

If you are looking for changing the design of your kit - start there. Find a good designer. Here in San Diego, there are so many bad kits it makes you want to puke. Nothing worse than an ugly kit. On the flip side - nothing looks better than a good one. Around here, BettyDesigns has done the majority of them it seems. She also does many of the top pro's. Check out the portfolio on on the website.

Dont worry so much about the clothing vendor. A good designer will know all the brands and be able to match you up with a vendor. Starting with a clothing vendor is doing things backwards.

I was just on the bettydesigns website and there is a drawing for one of the skull and butterfly kits if you sign up for the newsletter.

Hope that helps.

My club has used Desoto for the past 2 years.  Their service si great (we ahd issues with design flaws the firast eyar and they fixed them nbo problem, no cost and also threw in a  few extra pieces) They work with you on design (but it costs)  they are a bit pricy but so worth it.  I went through 2 seasons with the same uni and they are still in great condition!
his year, but their service was not good (at least for my club) and our visors did not come out liek the deisgn..so we will not be using them for uniforms.

You know, I was ok with the first semi-spam post from Kristin, at least she admitted she worked for the company. But when a second new identity is created for the purpose of giving a "testimonial," you lose me as a potential customer. Don't really need to do business with a company that disingenuous and desperate.

My old tri team used Voler and I disliked the tri tops they offer for women and also not a fan of the fabric they use for tri clothing..same a bike jersey but felt odd.

I personally like singlets that look like sleeveless shirts with rear pockets like bike jerseys not one tiny pocket and not with built in bras and not side pockets. I do long course racing and I need my pockets for stuff.

I think having options is good but also if you have one choice make sure it will appeal and fit the most people in your club.
