Just got these (sweet) pedals for xmas.  Now its time to upgrade shoes as well.  Never looked into tri shoes before so I have no idea what to look for.  Lets assume a $200 budget.  Thanks!

I got a pair of specialized trivents. I was in the same boat as you so I started looking in shops and trying them on and the best for my feet were the northwave and trivents got a deal on the trivents and have been happy with them. John.

x2 on the Specialized TriVents.
But shoes are a 'personal fit' type of thing. I suggest trying some on for size, wearing them in the store for 15min (to see where the rub pioints are) and then deciding.

LG Tri Lites for me.  Light and rigid.  They have served me well this year.  At least give them consideration.

I'm using the Shimano TR-51's and they have been working well for me.

Go to big tri/bike store and try some on. Everyone's feet are different and shoes that fit well are key.

Nice new pedals!

Sidi T2's. I love the lined inside since I don't wear socks when its warm.

Like wearing fine Italian kid skin gloves. I just replaced my 12 year old Sidi's Genius 3's.

Last years model can be had for 200 and some change.

Zanne.

Darn, I was hoping to buy online.  My local "bike" shop is awful.  There are two tri stores that are pretty good but both about 2.5 hours away.  For a new bike I'd drive there, but for shoes?

Thanks for the replies.

Trisports.com has a pretty good selection.  I assume you can try and return if need be.

Find a pair that fits comfortably without socks.  That's about it!  I've had two different pairs, neither were expensive and they were great.  I have found they have about a two year lifespan.  When they get wet with lake water (and other nasty stuff), have my feet in them for hours, it's hot, etc.... You just eventually cannot get them fresh anymore.

I personally use the tri vents...they are decent...but if you are someone who keeps your shoes clipped in for transition times, the trivents do not offer a loop to pull them on. bontrager makes a very attractive shoe called the Hilo i believe. it has an insert to fit all foot types and they are only about 160 bucks. oh did i mention they are CHROME colored? they look sharp if you ask me...but thats just me.

That was only the 2010 model. The loop is back on the 2011 model:
