Just curious. From my understanding that is the new bike distance. It's changed on the website and I think I got an email a while back about it. So prep for it :-) Woah... Not sure I have enough time to get ready for 3 more miles. I might ask for a refund. :D |

Veteran 189 | Subject: RE: Tri the Parks - John Tanner State Park : Official Thread Hey guys, from your previous years how cold is the water there? I know it depends of course from the weather but what is the general water temps? Who has done the swim without the wetsuit? I don't have one and i don't plan on buying one for next week so I'll be swimming without it.

Elite 3495 SE | Subject: RE: Tri the Parks - John Tanner State Park : Official Thread you can probably swim without one. the lakes in ga are warming up to the mid 60s.however, most coaches will tell you take the free speed of a wetsuit. what size are you? i have a cheap extra large QR full sleeve one for sale and all3sports.com rents them cheap if you choose. i also have a discount code for my pals. |

I didnt wear one last year, but probably should have. Not because it was too cold, but because it would have made me faster! Seriously though, its not too cold (low 70s I think). If you have a suit, wear it (why not?) and if you don't, then I wouldnt sweat over it. |

I'm probably a medium or a large never got fitted for one so i have no idea. I'm 5'9 about 180lbs so whatever that equals out to. I'm not too worried about speed this is my first Tri i just want to survive it and have fun unless my competitivness takes over and then i kill myself trying to keep up with some of you guys heheheh Thanks for the advice so far |

^^This^^ I've done JT with and without a wetsuit. The only main difference was time. |

The only main difference was time. Thanks Marvarnett, ok so speaking of time what will the wetsuit save me? it's a short swim relatively speaking even though i am new to Tri's. I understand that time saved is greater on longer swims but on short distances like this isn't time saved lost during transition while you are trying to take the wetsuit off?
Thanks |

Elite 3495 SE | Subject: RE: Tri the Parks - John Tanner State Park : Official Thread practice getting that thing on and off to reduce the time lost. it takes me mere seconds now to get it off. and the time savings for me is about 10-15? secs per 100 on the swim. |

Yeah it might be worth it then if it shaves of a whole minute from the 600 yards swim. Definitly something to start saving for |

Extreme Veteran 680 Acworth, GA | Subject: RE: Tri the Parks - John Tanner State Park : Official Thread You've got it, use it. Otherwise, what's the point of having it? (in my opinion). The first 6 miles are net downhill (even with the revised course) so make your time there. |

Veteran 189 | Subject: RE: Tri the Parks - John Tanner State Park : Official Thread Ok so you guys will love this story. Today at lunch I headed to All3Sports to pick up my package. I came in there and the nice lady told me that I wasn't on the list. I sort of freaked out and I was thinking man what in the world happened did I use the wrong card number, did it get declined what happened? I knew I received a confirmation that I registered and of course I didn't have a laptop or anything to check. There was another lady there (sorry for referring to them as "lady" but I didn't get their names). She ended up calling her husband to check and it turns out I did registered. I registered for JOHN TANNER #2 in September HAHAHAHAHAHA My God talk about feeling like a total dumb blank blank blank Luckily the nice ladies allowed me to register for Saturdays race (again??) loll. Only a newbie would do something like this. Well if anyone knows who those ladies were I just want to say THANK YOU AGAIN and see you all Saturday. Let's hope I don't forget my bike or something Anyways figured you guys might like the story if you need a laugh See ya Edin Edited by es185071 2011-04-28 12:37 PM |

I strongly suggest you lay everything out tomorrow and think about each leg of the race. The list is not long, but it is worth laying it out and leave it laid out until you are sure. Those hills will not be easily forgotten hehehe. This was my First Tri and i loved it. Didn't get to meet slayer or captain but i see Slayer won very nice job man. I took 12th out of 48 male Novice even though they posted my times under 25-29 age groupers which in that class I didn't do that well . Run will definitly need to improve. Ran a 9 plus average those hills midway killed me. I kept about 18 average on the bike which was ok and swim was almost 13 min which i guess is ok for first open water swim. Definitly hooked and i will definitly be coming back for more. Thank you all for advice and support on these forums it definitly helped see you all out there Edin |
