The men's wave was crowded but after the first bouy things were good. No chop, 70 degree water. Personal best hre to @1:20/ 100 yds. Great job! I thought it was pretty easy with no interference. I was able to cruise along with no problem. It blew my mind how fast I got out of the water! |

Regarding the swim times, it looks like the course was more like 800m than 1000m, judging from times in the same people in races earlier this season: the men's winner, Marty Gall did the swim in 9:27 or something (for 1000m). He did the triangle orthopedic sprint swim (750m) in 9:05. If you extrapolate his 9:27 for 1000m to 1500m you get something around 15 mins...which would be close to the world record. As good as Marty is, I doubt he is ready to break the world record....Other people who did both that I could find right at the top: Christian Zuburg did 11:49 at Buckhorn, 11:13 at Triangle; Paul Minor: 12:58 at Buckhorn, 11:52 at Triangle...so about 30s to a min difference, which would be 50-100m, rather than 250m. Open water swim distances are almost never right but it doesn't really matter, as long as you had a fun race and enjoyed the swim! |

I was thinking that it might have been a little shorter too, but hey, the description says I did 1000 meters in 18:36! So, I can tell that to all my friends.... LOL! |

There are plenty of times that the OWS gods come back and throw something nasty at you (like making your 1000m swim 1200m!) so you should enjoy the days when everything goes well in the water :-) |

Those are always lovely. |
