So the local media is reporting that the WTC will officially announce the Ironman Mont Tremblant to take place in August 2012.

http://www.pointdevuemonttremblant.com/Sports/Athletisme-et-course/2011-06-02/article-2554820/2012-%3A-L%26rsquo%3Bannee-Ironman-!/1

Its a wonderful location for a full IM race. I'm looking forward to hearing more details.

Mont Tremblant is 1.5hrs north of Montreal or 3.5hrs north of Burlington, VT.

I saw rumours of this tweeted a couple of months ago; IMO and think it would be great to add a Canadian eastern race and the venue would be great.

I might even consider registering if it happens.

Interesting. I wonder if they will rename Ironman Canada to Ironman Penticton. I'm doing IM Canada in 2012, and for some reason I'd be disappointed if they change the name.

Well this just throws a loop into my long term plans... I am going to have a hard time resisting registration for this event once it is announced and opens up.

Really looking forward to it. Without question I will either volunteer, or race in 2012 if all goes as planned for the Mont Tremblant.

Wow!

Really?

THIS I would do.......I mean, if I decided I was gonna do an IM.

I thought that I had put that particular beast to rest, until I read this.

Nothing says official like a website.   I guess the previous posters didn't ruin the whole thing.Laughing

As a Canadian living in the US, it sounds like a great first (and probably last) foray into Ironman racing.

A section with a 12 percent grade on the bike and 13 percent on the run.  Is that the best they could do?

Tremblant is close enough that I would consider doing it but $675 for the entry fee? They better be serving poutine at the water stations! Seriously is that inline? my 1/2IM was $200 and I thought that was bad

I think I will at least "do" a triathlon before I pull out my wallet for that one.

Really excited about this! It is only 1.5 hours from my in-laws house and the area is absolutely beautiful that time of year. If IMAZ (my first IM) goes well this year I may have to consider this for 2013 or 2014.

I just think the tentative date are not very good as you will have to decide between IMC and this one if you want to do an Ironman in Canada.

On a second though, it's not very easy anyway because of the typical weather in Canada...

Well... It is good to see a second one in Canada

Looks like its a GO!

Here are the proposed courses. The bike will be challenging and the run looks full of rolling ups and downs. At least the swim looks flat.

Snerk.

All kidding aside - it looks spectacular. Maybe a volunteer position this year to get the lay of the land...Anyone familiar with the bike route? Is it as painful as it looks?

For those worrying about road quality... the province just announced a $6M investment to bring the course up to WTC standards.

any takers on how fast this will sell out?

I am VERY interested, but I want to finish my first IM (Placid this July) before I throw my hat into another IM.

This will sell out instantly, IMHO.
