Sunny
Total Time = 2h 31m 25s
Overall Rank = 159/494
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 24/61
Pre-race routine:

Got up way to early (2:45am), had a boost PBJ and some coffee, loaded the truck, Met TriGirl at my house and off we went to meet cdf26.2 and mountainbreeze. Got to race site around 6am, checked in and got body marked.
Event warmup:

Not much, a quick splash in the lake to make sure the goggle were not leaking.
Swim
  • 22m 48s
  • 1408 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Nice lake to swim in. Only got off course once, when I thought it was 180 degree turn instead of just a right turn. Woops!! Other than that my sighting was great, I stayed out to the right so that I could have space and get into a rythym.
What would you do differently?:

Get to the lake sooner so that I could get in and swim 100yds or so and get the blood flowing to the arms.
Transition 1
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

T1 went smooth. Once I got out of the H2O and up the rock climing wall we had to traverse. :) Got my suit stripped down to the waist in no time and te rest of transition went smoothly.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Bike
  • 1h 09m 47s
  • 24.9 miles
  • 21.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride, pushed the pace a little faster than I intended. I was only looking at HR. Felt great on the bike and was able to stay aero for alomost the whole ride.
What would you do differently?:

For this distance race, nada; longer distances lay off on the bike a little.
Transition 2
  • 01m 51s
Comments:

T2 was smooth, no issues.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Run
  • 53m 31s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Took it nice and easy on the run. Got a cramp in my side right out of T2 and had to walk for about 45-60 seconds. Found legs well. At about mile 3 I could feel the cramps coming on in my hamstrings. At the mile 3 H2O stop my legs locked up and I had to stop to stretch. Then I was able to keep moving on for the rest of the run.
What would you do differently?:

Take it a little slower out of T2.
Post race
Warm down:

H20 and Gatorade and those wonderful sponges that have been soaked in ice water (these are my new favorite!!!). Walked and found Stacey and Merideth and watched for Rob and Chris to come in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramps on the run. Take the bike a little slower and save some more for the run.

Event comments:

Will definitely do this race again next year.

WOW, you are a fast swimmer and had a great biking time. As far as the cramping you had on the run it might be an improper nutrition/hydration before the swim and/or during the bike. (I am just guessing as I didn't see any info about that on your report)

That was an impressive performance... Congrats!

Awesome Job Dave. Glad you didn't succumb to the cramping as I did. Great performance on the swim, bike and particularly the run especially considering the cramping. It was great to meet you!

Awesome Race...you were flying the whole way!!

It was great to see you and cheer you on when I could see you.

Nice times on everything.....but I suspect you will be able to go faster on the run without cramping.

When is your next race? Keep up the great training!!

Hope to see you around next year maybe at Lake T?
