Watching transition is really fun! All kinds of crazy stories. I can't believe all of the people who forgot helmets, had helmets on backwards, tried to mount in transition and fell over. I could write a book. :)

Comments:

Started off a little too quickly, but I was planning on doing 4 minute run/2 minute walk intervals. It worked out pretty well. I was glad that I had a water bottle with me as I kept drinking every time I took a walk break. There were a lot of people telling me to run, but I had a plan and I wanted to stick to it. People just don't expect to see you walking during a tri I guess? I don't get nearly as many comments about the walk breaks during running-only races. As I made a turn out of the woods, I caught my arm on a prickly bush and had a bunch of stickers in my arm. Tried to pick them out and put a little water on my arm.

I was doing well at keeping cool through the woods sections, but once I got to the subdivision on pavement and in the open, I started getting really warm. Switched to 2 minute run/1 minute run/walk and did the best I could to keep moving. I was really happy when I made it to the turn-around point. Dumped a cup of water on my arm and drank some PowerAde. Headed back towards the woods and started to have a little more energy.

Tried to run up a hill and got a little light-headed, so I took a longer walk break. After that, I tried to run as much as I could to the finish line. I made it out of the woods and was very happy to run to the finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being pregnant, not enough consistent training due to school work.

You rocked the run!!  Playing it safe and doing what you needed to for yourself and Baby Nibblet were wise.

Hey Jen,
I didn't know you were there. Congrats on your pregnancy!!! Way to keep working out while expecting the baby! It's amazing how much energy and breath and whatnot those babies-on-board suck out of you, isn't it? Sounds like you had a good strategy and stuck to it! Yeah, once at Culpeper I got a bad cramp and really couldn't run, and people kept yelling at me to run... mostly in an encouraging way, but it was still annoying.

Terrific job Jen! I have no idea what it would be like to run pregnant, you go girl.

My wife loves to watch transitions for some humor too. She also likes to hang out at the bike dismount area because of all the crashes.
