Sunny
Total Time = 1h 05m 53s
Overall Rank = 38/225
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 2/12
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5AM. Ate cereal and had a diet cherry Pepsi. Did not sleep well because my snored.
Event warmup:

Rode 5.4 miles and swam 200 yds.
Swim
  • 04m 16s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was seeded 92, but got moved up to 56th spot. Past two swimmers. It is hard to get a good rhythm in a pool swim and especially one so short.
What would you do differently?:

Use more Powerstroke!
Transition 1
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

A good transition except for trouble getting my left cleat in!
Bike
  • 34m 46s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.71 mile/hr
Comments:

Was below 20 mph for the first 3 miles, then kicked it in gear and had a good ride from there. The eventual winner of my AG passed me just before the turn-around and was the only one to pass me on the bike. Passed about 15-20 on the bike. Knew from the warm up that my legs were not as god as last week.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

Started to run the wrong way and had to turn around.
What would you do differently?:

Need to praqctice shoe transfer more.
Run
  • 24m 34s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran every BLASTED step of the run. I did NOT walk the aid stations. I wanted to walk toard the end of the third mile, but I didn't! I am surprised to see this is my fastest 5K in a spriint ever by 11 seconds. It did not feel faster than my previous best. Things are moving in the right direction. I still need to cut minutes off this time, but that will come eventually.
What would you do differently?:

Lose more weight.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank and ate and hung out with Linda. Love this race and the casue it serves: helping kids with cleft palates. Rebecca Warnier, the RD does a truly awesome job. Over $30,000 for the cause!
