We all have them. I say they are moments of pride too (pride in humility maybe but still!).

Feel free to tell the story, or not ... but finally, here's a use for all those pictures that came in the packet that you swore you'd never bring to light.

Here's the finisher's photo from my VERY FIRST TRI!!! (reverse tri = Swamp Thing)

I still have the SAME sports bra and I'm STILL wearing it. Those are red running shorts. That's what I wore for the whole race.

I don't understand how such an awesome mellon shot can possibly be a bad pic!

I actually did pretty well in this swim, but I always look like this coming out of the water:

Some of these pics really don't look that bad too me esp. considering what you are in the process of doing. Laughing

What might be an embarrassing pic is one catching you picking your nose or digging out a wedgie with a little too much ethusiasm.

And you, sir, out with it ... I know you are a desert god but somewhere, somehow, there is a bad race pic of you. There must be. Maybe just one, somewhere, with a goofy look on your face.

mr2tony - 2011-07-08 11:45 AM Whizzz you look stunned ... which is better than what I look like here. OK not a race photo but a volunteering photo at IMMOO:

I do believe I took that picture, Tony.

LOL--that reminds me, I HAVE to find my first marathon DVD and put it online ...

100m or so from the finish, I realize they'll be taking a finisher's pic ... I come to a dead stop, and the camera clearly shows me doing exactly that. Anyone who's been willing to suffer watching it bursts out laughing.

Here's me barely surviving the measly 400 meter swim of my first tri. (I had just started swimming THREE WEEKS earlier.)

(And no, I'm not the woman in front jauntily heading to T1 with a big smile.)

I call this photo "Let's Not Barf In T1".

Probably exactly how I'll look in a few weeks.

The lady next to you is coming out of the water must be a bad mama, she has swag and a strut after that swim, like she's saying "BRING IT"

Here I am gagging after exiting Centennial Lake after Celebration.

(Ok, not really gagging, but folks familiar with Centennial in Columbia, MD will appreciate this since the lake is KNOWN for being fairly toxic.  LOL)

Man, this reminds me of how far I've come.  This was the first 10k I ran after I started training.  I think I had 6 weeks or so in at this point.  I'm running open 10k's around 43 minutes now...

Gotta agree -- a great mellon shot. Not bad at all!

For me, though this isn't my worst, it's one I have access to right now... Am I surfing on an underwater board? Riding a dolphin in to shore?

Nope... Rocky water exit and very tender feet...

The site won;t let me access it, but I'll try later.  Looking at my last tri photos, I thought "they mislabeled this one.  That's a 60-year old man".  No, it was me (female, mid-30s) coming out of the swim in wetsuit and swimcap.  That isn't even my worst one.

I do that as well.  Like anyone believes that I ran like that the entire race.

It is justified if you are chasing down someone in your AG.

Right after running the Mt Lemmon marathon here in Tucson.  Pretty much 26.2 miles up with just enough down to really annoy you.  Flat is none existent.  All I wanted to do was sit.  So I did.  But see my flip flops there?  I have the most awesome friends ever.  I never even had to ask them to bring it to the finish line, they just knew.

Not sure where I put it, but my swim exit picture from IMC 2003 was priceless. I was scratching my nose when the pic was shot but that's not what it looks like I'm doing. No, I did NOT order that picture...

There was a photo of me from Alcatraz that wound up on the web years ago. The night before the race I had some kind of seizure episode and just felt horrible. I woke up the morning of the race after the seizure and was like, "Aww man, I feel freakin horrible." I wasn't in shape, was way overweight. Just plain fat.

I got on the boat and was seriously wondering if I was going to get in the water. I still felt horrible.

Everybody jumped off the boat and I just thought, "Aww, this is what I do, what the heck..." and jumped in. It was a very hard day. I can't say I regretted having started the race, but it was a tough day- one of the worst ever days I've had.

I remember going out on the run and Emilio De Soto was coming back from the run, about a quarter mile from finishing. He was super fit, looked great (He's Cuban, he always does...) and he was flying. I waved to him and I was embarrassed that he even saw me then.

Ugh. Tough day. Never again...

First off, the green swim cap is just awful. Second, doesn't everyone carry an extra pair of running shoes through T1?

If these are all your worst photos - you guys must look like cover models in your best photos!

My worst photos will not be posted.  It's bad enough that they are out there on the web for anyone to stumble upon, I will not be making it easier for people to see them!  My first tri swim exit photo I was so bloated for some reason that my tri bottoms looked like someone had filled them with air.  I was a wet baloon.

In my first race of this season, I threw up on the bike leg about 1 minute before the spot where the photographer was positioned.  Outside of being paler than a vampire, it was one of my better race photos.  Go figure!

I was gonna say ... is that the WORST we can do? Really? It ain't about how bad you felt in the photo--it's about how bad you LOOK!

Just kidding I'm really happy people are posting photos and "keeping it real." Also, I'm getting major chuckles--from identifying with them.
