Age Group Rank = 6/13
Pre-race routine:

Bathroom stop, pick up race packet, get bike and gear ready.
Event warmup:

Bike 5 minutes, stretch, jog for about 15 minutes.
Swim
  • 10m 14s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Rough ocean swim. 2 sets of breakers and strong current pulling us south. Swam out to first buoy, diving and swimming through crashing waves. Waves were about 3-4 ft. Had the first buoy in sight to my right, took about 3 strokes, looked up and buoy was way to my left. It must have shifted during a lull in the wave action. Heading south wasn't bad but I had to keep watching for breaking waves. I didn't get too many but I also didn't get any help from the waves coming to shore.

What would you do differently?:

Try going without socks.
Run
  • 26m 44s

What would you do differently?:

Good run considering how little I have run in the past month. Too many people passed me during the run though.
Post race
Warm down:

Very little. I had a message on my phone from work and spent the next hour trying to solve a problem over the phone. Ate bagel, fruit, drank water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Tough swim.

You had a great race.  You also forgot to mention how much faster you were compared to last time you did this one.

You're such a comedian....  Suit:  Wore one.   LOL!

Swimming with the waves blows.  I guess its better than Swimming with the sharks, but still....  Like you didn't know that already.... heh.  Good performance regardless.  Now the bike was truly impressive.  You hammered it.  3rd in AG.  Most excellent.  Congrats Bob!  Heck of a race.

I didn't realize people read all the little details!! Of course I wore a suit with all that coral on the bottom.

About time I beat Sharon in at least one leg of the race.
