TankBoy - 2012-08-26 3:05 PM For those that are still following this thread, Dream Chaser is is clobbering the course in Louisville. Looked like the swim was a little uphill, but that is expected without a wetsuit. Perfectly even splits on the bike and he is out in the run at just a bit over a 9 minute pace. He has about 25 miles left to run - he has a myathletelive tracker on him. Send him some good thoughts - GO BOBBY!

Anything I can do to get this thread up to 200 pages I'm all for.

I was following him and was able to see him cross the finish line from the Iromanlive website.  He looked good crossing the line, including giving a little heel click at the finish.  Great Job Bobby!!

The outliine of the mountains in the drawings were based from this pic.  It is one of the revolving pics on the IMLP homepage of the website.

Just trying to reach 200.

Jim - the only thing that would make that tattoo cooler is if you used a picture of me instead.

You know, something like this:

Let me know what he comes up with.  I will probably do something similar.

I'm still in the designing phase of mine,  I have a couple pieces that I'm trying to incorporate.  I have the water and bike portion but need some kind of symbol for running (maybe a sneaker or something), maybe I'll borrow Tankboy's custom Nike Dream Crusher's .  I'll have to get it done soon since I won't be able to swim for a little bit afterwards and I don't want it to affect next years races.  for anybody that has gotten one on there leg (I'll probably be putting it on the calf), I can only imagine that the days afterwards that every time you step it would feel like it is stretching.  Should I be off my feet for any length of time.  (I need an excuse to not do my year long Honey-To-Do list)

I will be waiting for end of Sept. or begining of Oct to get my ink done.  I dont have any races planned but am still swimming and such and dont want it to interfere should I want to do something else.  My plan is to shut it down in Oct. and Nov. and much of Dec.  My goal next year is (3) HIM's and return to LP in 2014 to defend my 1272 place and show off my bad tat.

but I like the tankboy tat...

the IMLP with the tree backdrop one is nicer, though

even though no ink is going to be etched onto my body...

(13 more posts to the next page-we may need to settle for 184)

so, I'm not going to be able to do any bone, jarring things like running for 3 months...sigh...

at least I can lift my left arm all the way up to my shoulder now

and I can almost put my shoes on without help  (pathetic, I know, but I am very happy to not be paralyzed)-still takes me 3x the time to get dressed...who knew you needed your shoulders and arms for so much stuff--hey, I know who knows...Jeff C!!

Sucks doesn't it? Yeesh...so frustrating trying to do ANYTHING.  It's definitely one of those "didn't realize how much you used it until it's hurt" locations.

I'm just now 8 weeks and still have some soreness after doing stuff.  I ran 12 miles yesterday and my shoulder was sore and exhausted.

Oh and how much it's going to atrophy! that will drive you to drink.

Mine was June 2011 and my shoulder still reminds me it's there.  I was lifting yesterday and am not able to push equally with injured shoulder.

Lovely....

I know what you mean about having someone put on your shoes. Try having long hair and depend on someone to do that everday.lol. I broke my collar bone about 10 years ago and still have issues from time to time. This morning it's bothering me. Ughhh. Not sure if I slept on it wrong or not. I think the swimming helped it this year and I have been slacking on the swimming lately. Hope it feels better for next wknd for me.

Well, I'm at 3 weeks, and I can put on my shirt pretty well and move my shoulder ok in the morning.  I won't be running 12 miles until 2013. (I hope...)

Slowly worse shoulder pain throughout the day and weakness/flexibility is non-exhistent when you can only do passive ROM stuff until the bone knits enough. But I can move the arm around a l lot better. I only needed the sling for 2 weeks.

Much worse will be the fact that I can't run or do anything jarring to my spine for 3 months, thanks to the compression fracture in my neck. And I'm pretty sure I still have 2 ribs that aren't together yet, as they hurt constantly still. But when it's only 2 and not 5, that's progress...

I am not a patient patient...

Hearing others' stories is helping-so, thanks...

Hope you all get some good training in this weekend and enjoy the long holiday!

Dale

Can't believe you guys are still around!!! Haha well I'm tackling Olympic the Saturday and muskoka half Ironman the Sunday! It won't be the same as LP but this one will be painful probably just as bad since I've been unrestrained. New house and baby coming can't get to focus enough go do the mileage I put like LPI will be back and beat my record of 16:08!!! Shaved up four hours faster lol

Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread

I separated my shoulder a few years ago when I went over the front on a 100 degree downhill turn and used a metal guardrail to quickly decelerate.  It was my right shoulder.  Twenty years ago, I had chronic inflammation and pain in my left shoulder about ten months a year all through college.  By contrast, this was due to my aversion to the weight room and overuse in the pool and as a result I had some serious imbalances in all of the small supporting muscles and tendons around the shoulder cap.  I also had a slightly asymmetric stroke too.

In each case, either on the way to recovery from the bike crash or as I tried to manage the pain and flexibility problems during the swimming season, the funny thing was the only time I didn't experience discomfort was when I was actually using my body.

The lesson that has stuck with me from these experiences is to go slow with your rehab, but be consistent.  Do what you can and keep working at it.  Don't get frustrated by the pace of the progress.  You've each got a good three or four decades of racing still in you.  A body in motion will stay in motion...

FWIW.
