My Dad always said the following to me when I was growing up: 

"If your hands are in your pocket your either lazy or need something to do."

"Don't be stupid" (that was his motto..even if you weren't being stupid..he would say it as i was walking out the door.)

My dad used to say that too.  Another one my mom told me and my brothers in highschool....."Keep it in your pants and it will keep you out of trouble"
