Subject: Who runs with SuperFeet???

So I have used Super Feet inserts plenty before... work boots, snowboard boots, throw them in my bike shoes after that. Well I got some hiking boots and got another pair for them, and the sales lady said she uses them in everything and she is a runner. Explained a bunch of stuff, smart girl.

Anyway, I just assumed I buy the shoe and let it do the work. I mean I already get cushy shoes so it isn't like I need more of that. Thought of "orthotics" as something to "correct" something....

so how many of you use Super Feet in their running shoes? How long do they last? Do you repalce them with shoes or use them for a while?

They are great for causing injuries for over-support.

If you are not currently having problems I wouldn't change a thing. I have used green superfeet in the past when I was having problems with my post tib tendon. Although I worked on strengthening my foot and got rid of them. IMHO orthotics may solve one problem but will probably cause another.

Me- and I have tried every popularly available insole and moldable consumer orthotic. And, the company I work for does not sell Superfeet.

But.

They are superb. They make a good shoe better and make shoes last longer and handle better. I'm a believer. SuperFeet Green. Cut to fit. Awesome.

I've used the green Superfeet for running in the past, but have found some better products out there, frankly (SofSole, Foot Soldier to name a couple I like).  Did recently try the black Superfeet, though, and think they're useful...might be very good in cycling shoes.

I have prescription orthotics (have for years...am on my fourth set...big problems with left foot...congenitally lacks an arch and arthritis now as well), but I mostly use them for walking and don't like them as much for running as a combination of a specific off-the-rack insert (such as the ones I mentioned) with one of the Dr. Scholl's products.  Lot of years of experimenting and a lot of miles behind that, though.  I have to use some added support, though...literally can't run just with the out-of-the-box insoles in any shoe I've tried...get recurrence of chronic PTT pretty quick.

I use the Road Runner equivalent to Superfeet green soles in my racing shoes, just to add a little more support.  My training  shoes don't have any aftermaket support.

I use the blue, cut to fit, and they've been great.  The guy that sold them to me said they usually last through 3 to 4 pairs of running shoes before needing to be replaced.

I use the green ones or the orange ones if I can find them. I replace them about as often as I replace my shoes. I put an old pair of superfeet into my cycling shoes as well, which makes them more confortable and feel both more snug and stiffer than the stock insole did.

Thanks a bunch guys. I don't really have a problem I think needs fixing. Are you guys wearing them to fix something, or just because it's comfy.

The greens are med/high arch. Mine are low, but I wear green in boots and stuff and it is not a problem. I did throw my old ones in my running shoes, but too much arch and too afraid to go for a run.

I have run my entire running career in the same pair of SuperFeet custom-molded inserts. My boyfriend bought them to go in my snowboard boots before I figured out that I hate snowboarding (and broke my arm in the process.) I don't even think they make the custom-molded ones anymore, but they are wonderful. Previously, it seemed like every time I tried to take up running, my feet would cramp up. I dropped these in my shoes on the day of my first "adult" run 5 years ago and have run every step with them since-- without a single foot cramp.

Might be my imagination, but I'm sticking with 'em!

I have a pair of the Berry ones that bought for my gym shoes, but I hate them-- something about the footbed feels like there is a big lump in them under the ball of my foot.

My podiatrist had me in the green ones for my regular footwear when I was battling Plantar Faciitis so I put some in my running shoes when I started running and they work great. I did try the berry ones when they came out but I was having a lot of issues with blisters with those so I went back to the green ones.

Tried green super feet. Way to solid and unforgiving for me. People who don't need arch support or orthotics should thank their lucky stars and enjoy the soft sock liner the shoe was originally designed with. Shoving an insole into a shoe changes the fit substantially too. I've had several pairs of custom orthotics and most off the shelf insoles. Pf both feet several years now. Recently have started going without insoles, but a long day on my feet will bring on a flare up of pf. Personally after doing a lot of reading I don't think all pronation is evil. It seems to be a natural shock absorbing motion, unless it's extreme. A good sports podiatrist should be involved with footwear changes as extreme as othotics, and arch supporting insoles, IMHO. Still, if you try them and your feet thank you, that's a good sign. I had one pair of orthotics that caused a long time problem with mortons, so always listen to your feet first, then the experts. I should have ditched those things first day of use. They were made by an orthotic specialist, not a podiatrist. I finally went with sole brand heat moldable. Www.yoursole.com also look at archmolds. Superfeet seem to fit the shoes the best though as the are a slim profile with less build up., if you can stand how solid they feel, I think they're a good option.

I'll go back to the OP's last post.  "I'm not trying to fix anything".

If that is the case, let the running shoes do thier work for you.  You are paying big bucks for the technology/research in current running shoes.  If the shoes/feet aren't broken, don't try to fix them.

That's sort of what I thought... now before, I would use greens for work... 12 hours on concrete killed me and I would try anything and superfeet helped with comfort and support in "crappy" work boots. I mean I would get good boots, but all of them are pretty crappy.

they were nice in my Snowboard boots for the same reason and what you use them for. I like throwing the old ones in my bike shoes because of what was said earlier... they fill the shoe better and are a btter bed than comes in bike shoes.

But that does not mean I need them for running. I just asked cause the sales girl was talking about them and has always run with them and I never thought about it. If I did give it a try, I would have to do something besides green cause they are way too much arch...

which is another ???.... what is the deal with "arch support"? I have low arches and sort of bad pronation. Some "filling of the void" is nice to me.... but walking on an arch holding up your arch is quite uncomfortable to me. That is not what arches were designed for. So do you guys with flat feet get arches to give you what you don't have? Do you walk around on false arches?

I did at one time but subscribe to some others opinions,  it solved one problem but caused another.  This was fine at the time but found a shoe that worked better and I improved my form to really solve the issues....

All my shoes/boots have green Superfeet except running shoes.  Never had an issue with them so I'm letting it go as-is.

Off topic but if you're still on concrete, wolverine durashocks. That's coming from a big red wings boots fan.

I've used SuperFeet Green and then switched to Orange (a bit more relaxed and cushioned). Then discovered ASIC Foundation, which essentially gives you a similar support in their running shoe.

Recently I did throw the Orange SuperFeet into a pair of trail shoes, because the stock inserts were too minimal, and they are helping quite a bit on the long runs.

overall, great product, but you have to choose the right level of support for your feet.

Great thread though Im still a bit confused especially when one my friends said to me the other day that they are just over priced branded off the shelf insoles and you can get cheaper ones that are just as good..... kind of like the placebo effect with "top" insole brands I think.

Just about all insoles look the same to me... I dont get it really. Also i might add that I think. my next buy then is probably going to be some of these from bleach black ( here's a link to them) instead and save myself a couple quid, to me the insoles all seem to look the same anyway I guess at the end of the day superfeet and other cheaper off the shelf insoles are all made in the same Chinese factory and work just the same...

Through lots of trial and error, I've come to the conclusion that the approach that works best for me is to use the least amount of shoe I can get away with given the circumstances, and the same applies to inserts. Why would you want to add inserts if you don't currently have an issue or have any indication that you need them? I look at inserts and arch supports like crutches - if you have a true diagnosed biomechanical need for them that's one thing, but otherwise it's like walking with crutches when you don't need them. They will only serve to weaken the areas that should be getting stronger. Sure some people can use them forever with no issues, but why would you want to if you don't need to?

The blue has a medium arch with a fairly firm forefoot.  I started using them in my shoes after battling a mild case of PF.  I actually prefer the women's (berry?) version since it has a medium arch but a softer forefoot.  I couldn't find a medium arch/cushioned forefoot in the mens styles.

Im really not a fan of superfeet insoles as they really do over support your feet.. last time I wore them my feet got plantar fasciitis!
