Everytime the instructor told us to put a sterile dressing on whatever wound/injury we were discussing, she pipes up "Or you could put a Kotex on it!"

Yeah. It wasn't funny the first 6 times you said it.

Must restrain myself from whapping her on the back of the head. Or outbursting with "Shut the ..." you know the rest.

I'm grumpy when I skip dinner.

I am a recruiter.

I'm taking a First Responder class as part of my CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) thingy. Volunteer stuff.

Emergency volunteer people are wackos. You don't want to know.

Good to know some First Responder people carry enough Kotex around to keep me from bleeding to death.

You should have picked a hole on her and stuffed a Kotex in it.

Not to hijack, but how goes the quest for the Cervelo?

Ack!

Nope, I might make it but only if I STAY OFF OF BT! (Have to mention: I was working while at IMFL, setting interviews while perusing the tents at the Iron Village.)

I got an attack of the practicals and told him I needed a new car instead, give me the cash instead.

I'd be happy on a $1,000 bike. I'm a low maintenance kind of athlete.

I know what you mean about wanting to whap Kotex girl. You know how they say there is no such thing as a dumb question? That is complete BS. I have heard people ask some of the most asinine questions. And now, that I'm old and bitter, when someone asks a stupid question, I actually say "you know, there is such a thing as a stupid question." Can't help it. I get grumpy when Renee skips dinner.

Shannon, I used to work with a gal who had a sign on her desk: If you don't have anything good to say, come sit over here by me.

Do they even make Kotex anymore?

Unfortunately they do.  My reply to her would have been that Playtex would work better

I overheard her talking about shoving tampons up her son's nose. Seems he had many nose bleeds as a child.

I wouldn't have thoughtof that, but i guess it makes sense.  Can you see some kid going to ER with 2 tampons up his nostrils with the strings hanging out?  Funny...

I stay home with my kids now, but when I worked, those were my two favorite things.....talking about other people and insinuating people were asking stupid, time wasting questions at meetings.....boy I miss those days.

is there a practical element or role play involved in this course? If so, seek your revenge during.

I would have quickly found enough Kotex to fill the flap that kept opening. Even though, I have used Kotex to stop nosebleeds on wrestlers....unbeknownst to them! I think they would have freaked had they known.

We need a "101 Uses for Kotex" thread (or, maybe not).

Hmmm... we're doing a Search & Rescue role play tonight. Maybe I could volunteer to be a victim and try to projectile vomit on her. No... that won't do. I'd actually have to vomit and that ain't cool. Then she'd try to wipe my chin with a Kotex...

Kotex was first called Cellucotton, and was invented as a WWI field dressing to control bleeding. http://www.snopes.com/business/origins/kotex.asp

It was only lafter the war that a marketing director at Kimberly Clark thought to use them as sanitary napkins.

I had an elderly instuctor in nursing school who would occasionally refer to pressure dressings as Kotex, harkening back to her own young training days when she was taught by those who commonly used  Kotex as such. I've also heard older physicians refer to pressure dressings as Kotex as well.
