Event warmup:

Jog and skip. Strides, jog. Stretch. Jog to corrall
Run
  • 1h 57m 15s

Comments:

I felt good until mile 10 when my legs got a little heavy. Then I also realized that it was slightly uphill. I started feeling the blisters around mile 11-12. There was a little mental challenge between miles 10-11, but by mile 12 I was so close it was OK :)! By the time I got to the last mile there wasn't much left to kick in, but I tried. The last mile seemed infinitely long mostly because I was looking for my hubby and there were SOOOO many people. I did "sprint" from mile 13 to the end!(That whole tenth of a mile...)
What would you do differently?:

Train more longer runs. Wear better socks.
Post race
Warm down:

walk around eat, grab a heat blanket (and BOY did I need it - I dumped water over my head at mile 12 and then it got breezy. I was cold the last mile and then when I stopped, got the shivers.)
Walked to the reunion area and then a mile to the car.
Sat in the hot tub :) felt better with beer and warm water. I did eat and dring A LOT after the race. maybe a little too much.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of distance training. Muscle cramps/ heaviness around mile 12 from fatigue

Event comments:

The pre and post race were a little hectic due to the 21,500 participants, but all in all it was a great day!!

I never saw the 228, but I saw 212 at a point before I stopped looking just after I crossed mile 13 (I started sprinting when I saw mile 13 marker) I forgot to stop it at the end 9of course) so I just added a minute to my assumed time. Good race though. Not as bad as I though and I ran faster than I thought I would.
Course: Flat until mile 10 then some mild uphills during miles 10&11. Down on mile 12 flat last mile.

I also just want to say thanks for all of the support from everyone online here. I've been a little hectic, out of it, and distant between training for this race, the holidays, and working WAY too much lately. I'm really looking forward to riding, running, and hopefully drinking with the other CO BT'ers soon!! Thanks Mark, Stacy, Ben, Ryan, Mike and Matt for all of the support!!!!!!
:)

Great race!

You realize that it started a mild uphill back at around mile 6 or 7, right?  Just a little bit but I know that by the time I hit 9 I was really feeling the cumulative effects....

Avg. HR of 191??!!?? Well, I guess that's what, zone 1 or 2 considering that your LT is somewhere around 375! Good job - I know you had lots going on between your last/first? tri and this half mary - that's a pretty impressive pace. And look - you didn't even have to get on your MB (or that nice Orbea) afterwards!
