Subject: New Tri Bike - Felt s32 or Specialized Transition Elite
I am going to get a Tri specific bike for this upcoming season. I am able to get a Felt s32 from a LBS for $1270. I did not think they were available at such low pricepoints. More research at another LBS showed me the Specialized Transition Elite which would be $1360.

s32: http://www.feltracing.com/06/06_triathlon/s32/spec.html

Transition Elite: http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=12999&bikeTab=tec...

Obviously the first shop doesn't sell Specialized and says the Felt components are far better. The second doesn't sell Felt and claims the Specialized frame is far better.

I come to the fellow BT'ers before making the decision! What are everyones' opinions on this?

Well, I'm biased so I voted for the Transition .......... may not be as good a component mix, but I like their stuff better (and it is probably the same frame that I have, so you can always upgrade as you want with the parts).

I just bought the S32 in September and am very happy with it.

This may be worth a read: http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/reviews/feltS32.shtml

I don't own one, but I think the Felt puts out more for your money then most brands. There bikes are well made and always seem to have better components for the money.

I'd go with the Felt better components just check to see what kinda deal you would get from the LBS.

oh and of course make sure the bike is RED, or somewhere near RED

And so now we finally get to the technical issues that really matter.

(my RED Griffen Vulcan will be here Friday)

I also have a Specialised..last years blue Elite. It is an awesome bike and as Daremo said it is the same frame as the rest of the uper end line. You can up grade every part of the bike. Not that it is required.

I liked mine enough to add DA parts through out...not that I needed to mind you bike was spectacular as it was delivered. But I liked it enough,, even in the blue color, to personalize it a bit.

My suggestion (because Felts are great bikes as well) is to have them fit you in both shops and ride the bikes before buying. The service and the bike ride shoudl tell you more.
