Happy Cinco de Mayo! Put down those margarhitas and get your training in first

on today's agenda: yesterday's 3 mile run and today's 15 mile bike.

Guess we have two 5/5 threads going. Anyway, started today w/ 2650 meter swim. Timed 1500 meters in full "combat gear" was 24:00. Supposed to be 78 today. Plan on a bike ride after work.

And you grumbled about the Spanish lessons!

Rest day for me...I got in my first swim yesterday, did a 1/2 mile. BTW Ellen, I sent in my registration for Hyannis on June 12th (I think that's the date)

Cool! How 'bout you and Patti spend the night with us? I have three other trigeek friends spending the night and we always have a blast. Gets pretty nuts about 5 AM as everyone goes into their pre race rituals, but we sure do have fun!

almost forgot....I am STILL grumbling about Spanish.  The final is next week.  Please pray for me!  LOL

I'll have to let you know as it gets a bit closer. It all depends on my work schedule. I'm hoping I can take the Friday off the day before the race. Other wise I will go home from work, pack my stuff, jump in the car and be at the Cape about 2 hours before the start of the swim! LOL, I'll probably fall asleep on the beach during T-1

Well I was going to catch up today, but hubbie left the light on in the car last night when he went to check the mileage from our Boston trip--resulting in a dead car. I guess I'll have to do house work today.

By the way, enjoyed meeting Ellen yesterday. Sorry about the run delay.

Still getting over the creeping cruds. I did go on the world's shortest bike ride yesterday. I HAD TO be outside, but came home when my stomach started to rebel. Maybe I ate something bad.... Well, whatever.....

I'll try a walk-run tonight, but it may be mostly a walk.

Training today? Nah. Wednesday is my rest day each week. Gee, what a convenient conincidence!

Seriously though, I've got some things to reward myself for:

o Keeping weight down ( sub 195! ) now for several weeks. ( Not that I focus on this, but lower weight
means faster bike and run times! ).

o Hitting new distances on swim, run, and bike in last few weeks ( 1000 m straight swim in under :30! ).

o I don't hate running anymore, and my ankle and achilles haven't been bothering me ( I discovered I wasn't
paying enough attention to HR, and was pushing too hard on run. I slowed down a bit, and now I'm able
to go a lot further, and almost don't want to stop! ).

o New stuff going on in my job that is really cool and interesting.

So, all that said, I've saved up some points for tonight, that I"m going to cash in. :D

Great job to all who have been working on the new content for the site! I've been slacking in posting due to being busier at work ( but not in training! ), so haven't said that yet. Just wanted to add my congrats and thanks to the multitudes, albeit a little belatedly.

Cheers!

I woke up this am at 6:30 to go on a 25 mile ride, but my wife and the dogs needed me, so I didn't get to go. Change of plans. Tonight will be strength training and some running at the gym. tommorow bright and early will be 25 miles on the bike.

1250 in the pool, sometimes these drills get BORING! 45 minutes of weights after; shoulders complained a bit, but everything else went well.

This Master Swim Class is killing me. The warm up again was 1,000 meter. Then we had to do 2- 500 m sets, with 2-200 meter sets, then 2-400m sets with 2-200 meter, then 150 easy and then some cool down sets. The total workout would have been 5300 m, or 3500 m if you took it easy! Wow. The whole time I'm swimming I'm thinking what the heck have I gotten myself into here. Then I found out that this Master Swimming Class is ultra-competetive. That the best swimmers in the city are on it. I guess a lesser woman would pack up her flip flops and be done with it. But if you want to be better why not swim with the best? I clocked myself and I'm swimming about 2 min per 100 yards consistently. Our lane did 500 meters in 9 min. Whew! That's the fastest 500 m I've ever swam. Even though one chick in our lane said it was slow! (Keep in mind this is AFTER a 1000m warm up). I'm swimming my triathlon on the 15th and I'm in the 12 min/525m heat lane. This puts me in good shape. Needless to say I sat out a couple of hundreds after a while. Whew. It was just getting so hard. But I'm glad I am going because it's helping me to swim better. And the people are so nice.

Yeah Ovetta! I also had a workout with very fast and skilled triathletes today....1st bike group workout of our mutisport group.  It was threatening rain, but I went anyway...my biking buddies chickened out!!!  We did 3x4km intervals with 1km rest in between sets.  Was only a little windy, and it rained a bit at the end.  I was dead last, but still happy to be out there.  I hope that all of the other people at my level stayed away because they thought it would rain.  Maybe they will come next week...At least I feel a lot better than last year when things fell apart when I started speedwork.

Ovetta, you're tearing up the pool!  I know I couldn't handle that much.

Ran 5.2 miles this evening in ~45 minutes.  Long day tomorrow.
