The guy that was being tortured seemed awfully unaffected in that last shot. Also he was wearing shoes which unlike the group of others that we have seen in the jungle. However, Ethan and Goodwin also wore shoes and had a completely different look than the people who kidnapped Walt.

Random thoughts (SPOILERS!):

- I was hoping that Sawyer would get high by touching the tree frog.
- Writers finally explained why Hurley was able to maintain his weight. Folks, stay away from Ranch dressings!
- Back stories are boring.
- Was disappointed that Locke reset the counter. I was hoping that hatch woudl transform into a giant robot. Well, the sound EFX suggested so.
- Was Claire kidnapped? I had no idea?
- Yeah, like Locke said, The Others, Schmothers, it's all relative.

EDIT: to add black shading

Bear, what was that website you posted a couple of weeks ago?

Which website? What are you looking for?

Here is a screen cap of the symbols:

So what do you make of that? Besides, die?

It was the website link that showed what was in the smoke that Eko confronted. If that helps. I guess I could go back and look myself, but I was hoping you'd just tell me

It's just that I probably posted a couple of sites. That one you're looking for is the same one cited in the screen cap: lost.cubit.net

found this on one of the forums & thought it was interesting.
----------------------------
Anyone notice the name of the "Other" is Henry Gale? Who arrived on the island in a hot air balloon? That was the name of Dorothy's uncle from the Wizard of Oz. I know it's a random connection but the hot air balloon was how the "Wizard" originally landed in the land of Oz in her dream and was how she got home.

The Wizard worked using a façade, that is to say, the curtains. He pretended to be something he wasn’t, however, eventually the curtain was pulled back and he was shown to be what he was.

Therefore, the implication can be made that like the Wizard, Gale presents a man using a façade, one that does not portray the truth about what and who he is. This suggests he is an other, rather conclusively I should think.

The Wizard of Oz is a series of lessons to the effect that everyone possesses the resources they need (such as brains, a heart and courage) if only they had self-confidence.

Did anyone else expect Sawyer to start licking the frog & get a little loopy?

Does anyone else think that Abrams and Lindeloff sit around on a Thursday morning and just laugh at all of us who go around trying to figure out what everything means?

I think they do it publicly and on the show, often through Hurley. For example, in the recent episodes, he has commented  that 1) the washer/dryer do laundry, and he doesn't care that they're newer than the other stuff, 2) that the radio braodcast could be coming from another time.

I think its funny that last week was Sawyer's big "I'm tough and back as the bad guy" show and then this week he gets stalked by a tiny frog, backed down by Hurley and shows how tough he is by squishing the aforementioned frog?  Ooooooo, tough guy!  Although I have to admit I laughed out loud when he called him "Rerun".

Sayid is the man.  What a great character and I think they deserve a lot of credit for writing that character into the show.  I'll bet network honchos had reservations about it.

Looking at your Wizard of Oz analogy, maybe the hints go a little further and mean that this guy is the leader (Wizard) of the Others?
