I am thinking about moving back to the east coast of Florida where I had lived for 2 years before, because I hate the cold. where would you move to to get out of the cold if you could????

You might want to check on the housing situation before you come back here. It's not good.

I grew up in NJ, exit 4!

I have lived in Texas the past 12 years, and with this weekend being the extreme exception, based on NJ winters, we don't have winter down here. Yes, it gets cold, but below 30 is a local news event for a week, a huge deal, run out and get groceries- quick!!

What is your employment field? The cost of living in the DFW area is very reasonable! I begin to wonder how my sisters afford the housing in NJ!

I will probably never move back to NJ, and really enjoy the 12 month availability of training.

Housing up here is unreal, I live near Ocean City, So a small 2 bedroom ranch goes for a minimum of $275,000 for a house that needs alot of work. I would just like to be ablt to go outside in the winter!

Housing in SW FL ois crazy also, in Dec I think the median house prize was $275,000. The cheapest house I saw was 150,000 and it was burned down to the ground.

OP question I would move to the Melbourne area, central to pretty much the entire east coast with easy access to central FL.

Suck it up. Put on a good base layer and a wind proof layer, you'll be good to go. It's 7F with a -10F windchill out side right now, I was toasty for my one mile walk from the parking lot to my office.

Growing up in coastal Texas, Atlanta is getting too cold for me. I miss it not being too cold to ride and run! Training year round is possible here (no snow or anything) but its still too cold for my blood.

I'm moving back to Texas in 3 weeks. I can't wait.

I moved home to the Florida Panhandle and I love it. Housing on the beach is ridiculous but not as bad as alot of Florida. Once you get off the beach a few miles its not so bad. Year round training is not an issue but bike routes are a little lacking.

I think I would enjoy living in one of the areas that has a bigger triathlon/outdoor sports community...Bend Oregon, Boulder CO, Colorado Springs, San Diego, San Fran..VA Beach is decent but it's still a bit cold this time of year.  Freezing rain today for example.  I like seasons so FL doesn't do it for my.

If money/housing/economy were no object, I'd be headed for Charleston, SC.

Choke! Assuming you mean the SF Bay Area, the housing prices here are insane. Of course, the advantage is that you can train year-round in beautiful surroundings.

I live in Okinawa, Japan right now....warm winters (No SNOW!), year-round training, some great local events....Ishigaki Triathlon, Miyako Strongman, Izena 88, Tour de Okinawa, Okinawa Marathon, Naha Marathon, and lots more. I really like it here, but my wife and I have been thinking of Hawaii, so that isn't much of a change in climate from where I am now.

San Diego.....no other place!  Perfect weather year round.  The only downfall is that the water is cold, but that just makes for good wetsuit practice!

I grew up with winters, and after spending a year in Costa Rica without a winter I really missed it. I don't think my body knew what to do without the dark/cold period of the year. Not that I love Chicago winters or anything (I can cope much better with NJ winters), but I do need some kind of temperature and light fluctuations to really comprehend that time is passing. Scuba diving Christmas day is nice once in a while, but I wouldn't want to do it every year. So I guess I'd move back to the northeast, but not too north.

Seattle, where we are now, is so far my favorite place to live. Great support for tri's, great mild weather. Yes it rains all the time, but we don't have -30 degree weather!

San Diego, CA ..... hotbed of the sport, and gorgeous year round.

But then again I've always been partial to Southern Cali. having spent 7 years of my youth there (San Diego, San Pedro, and Monterey).

Denver/Boulder!!  Yeah, we do have winter, but the fact of the matter is that the winters are pretty mild.  I wouldn't mind Santa Fe, NM though.
