Total Time = 1h 34m 28s
Overall Rank = 165/184

Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, got ready, ate cereal and drank coffee. Sipped on gatorade while driving about 40 min to race site. Found Max, parked next to his car.
Event warmup:

Jogged back and forth to register and use bathroom.
Debated whether I should be wearing the longsleeve or shortsleeve shirt. Was a bit chilly when start, due to raining a bit. I figured I'd do better when warm so I wore both.
Run
  • 1h 34m 28s
  • 9.32 miles
  • 10m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran the whole course! Walked a few steps when grabbing water from drink stations. Was kind of surprised there weren't that many drink stations. Max was kind enough to let me "re-fuel" from his bottle. We talked the whole way, which helped passing time. Also had music with earphone on one ear so I was runing with Mozart's sonatas for piano and violin in the backgroud. Around mile 5 I got warm and took off the longsleeve shirt.
What would you do differently?:

Bring my own water bottle. I forgot about it this morning. Didn't want to carry my 1 L bottle to run.
Post race
Warm down:

walked a bit and stretched by the curb side. Then get into the school cafeteria to get something to eat. Saw the Hoyts. Took pictures with them and talked to them a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

First 15k. This is a personal record :)

Event comments:

My longest run distance ever. I'm glad I did it. Was a bit nervous coz I went from doing 5 miles 3 weeks ago to 7.2 miles 3 days ago to a 15k today. That's almost double the distance. I'm glad Max got me into it. Otherwise I wouldn't even thought of doing it.

Sounds like this was a changer for your Denise!

Awesome race, super pace...lots of great stuff! You are so going to have an awesome Tri season. I agree running long is more about your mind accepting that you can do it. And you did your longest run prior to this just a couple days ago!

PB in style...you go girl!

1/2 Mary is on your radar screen?

Way to go DK!! You didn't know if you could do it and look at that - you finished and were fast too! Forget lugging a water bottle - now that you're running these long distances you need a fuel belt.
