It's about flight 93. Kind of intense. I felt like bawling. Yes, it's coming soon to a theater near you.

Wow, that looks interesting. Not sure if I'm going to see it though. I'm not a real movie buff.

Yeah...but on the other end of the emotional spectrum: 7/27/07 is the open date for the Simpsons movie.

You can just feel the Hollywood types evaluating whether enough time had passed to cash in on 9/11.

No desire to see it. There has already been too much cashing in.

I saw this on the news the other night:

They showed clips of family members who sat around in the room listening to the 911 calls their loved ones made who were trapped in the Twin Towers.  You should have seen the xpressions fo the those people.  It was so sad.  Seeing it gave me chills- I was on the trainer and was almost bawling.  I'm not sure if I'll see the movie- I mean, who really wants to re-live that?  It was such a tradgey.

Next thing is that they'll make Hurricane Katrina into a movie.  Wanna take bets??

How much time is enough time is an intersting question. Lots of us saw Schindler's List, probably, and the Holocaust was a bigger tragedy. Hotel Rwanda was widely seen and it depicts a bigger tragedy and is more current than 9/11.  Maybe it's because those events don't affect us as personally as did 9/11, and maybe that's a shame, because loss of human life is loss of human life.

Yeah, this is interesting.  The 9/11 movie really smacked of "cashing in" to me, but I didn't feel the same way about Hotel Rwanda or Schindler's list.  I wonder if that's because the point of those two movies seemed much more about the message than just retelling the story?  honestly, I don't know...I wonder how survivors felt about Schindler's list?

Saw the trailer twice now in the theater.  Gotta say I have never heard a theater that quiet after a trailer.

Is it cashing in?  I don't know, but I don't think so.  I've read that the filmmakers talked to every flight 93 family and every family approved of making the film.

It looks very very intense.  Would I see it?  Probably.  Although 9/11 was a horrible massacre, the people on that plane possibly prevented the destruction of the representation of the federal government.  The country did change after 9/11, but can you imagine what would have happened had the capitol gone down?  martial law, etc.  The flight 93 passengers were heroes.  Hopefully the movie is done in such a way that honors their memory.

Not to be pedantic, but the events depicted in Hotel Rwanda took place in 1994, ten years before the movie was made.

That being said, would I be ready for a 9/11 movie even in 2011? I don't think so...

Yeah, but I meant in the sense that African genocide continues to this day.

That, of course, is sadly true...

Maybe that's the reason for making Hotel Rwanda. The existence of holocaust deniers and the fact that the holocaust took place 2 generations ago might be a reason to make Schindler's List.

Which is why Rwanda is such an underrated movie. People need to see that. Another moving film like that is Invisible Children. I agree whole heartedly with you Jim, loss of life is loss of life, and it needs to change.

I will see the movie. The people on flight 93 are in my book national heroes. Their actions in my opinion were more heroic than that of my fellow firefighters, who are paid to put themselves in harms way on a regular basis. I can tell you as those firefighters looked up at the towers they knew that death was a possibility, but those on flight 93 came together and thwarted the terrorists plans knowing that death was certain.

i think it is important for the process of some americans to be taken back down the road of 9/11. some that is not what they need to heal, others who have buried those feelings and need to revisit it for more closure. I find myself as a person who didnt really emotionally deal with all my feelings. To be taken back through it in a graphic way, will help drum up those emotions that i supressed. In my case I had to be strong to alot of people around me, so I didnt get my personal closure.

*bump*

I think that's Oliver Stone's 9/11 movie. Yes, I just learned that in addition to the UA 93 movie, there will be another 9/11 theme film directed by Oliver Stone.
