I am a 42 year old woman in the Northwest.
About a year and a half ago, I reached my goal of losing 100 lbs through weight watchers, and martial arts.
I was inspired to go through this life changing experience mostly by my now 9 year old daughter who wears a blue belt in Tae Kwon Do and is one of the senior kid students at our martial arts school.
I now wear a green belt and when comparing the kid and adult programs we are essentially the same rank which is fun.
I decided this year to do my first sprint tri which will be the Danskin in Seattle in August.
This website has been incredibly helpful and is where I got my training plan from. I have to say thank you so much.
When I started the "couch to 5 K" type plan I could not run 1/4 mile and on Friday I ran 2.5 miles without stopping. I swear, even if I crash my bike in the race, the training will have been worth it as I really am enjoying the process.
I hope to "meet" you online and watch for more questions from a newbie like me as August approaches!

K

Great job, and congratulations on the weight loss! It's funny how our kids can inspire us to do things.

Keep up the good work, and good luck in August!

I am impressed!! I am also looking to do my first tri.. And as you I have found many handy hints on this site. Welcome! I must say 2 years ago I could not run 200 m and now I have complested my first Marathon. I know how inspiring achievments like that are! Well Done and keep up the good work. I on the other hand have to train to stay on a bike long enough to be able to complete a tri... :-) Have a wow day and "see" you soon. :-)

WoooHOOOO!!! You go girl. I am doing the Austin Danskin next Sun. It will be my first. When I started exercising I could only do about 15 mins of walking on the treadmill. I was one of those people that chose to take the elevator up one flight because I was afraid of what the stairs would do to my heart rate. My kids have inspired me too. So there are some of us out here that have much in common with you. Good luck in Seattle...I will be rooting for you!

Robin ;-)
