Run
Comments: I ran very well for the first 10 kms, averaging 6:18 per km! Just before the turnaround, however, the side of my thigh started feeling heavy!?! There was slight change in the course at around km 18 where we had to run up a very steep hill. That took a lot out of me. Then, I had to run up the hill leading to the finish line about 1 km later. When I reached the top of that hill and turned right to head for the finish line, my brother JP was there to cheer me on. I sprinted the last 100 meters or so to finish just under 2:30 hrs. What would you do differently?: Slow my pace in the first half to 6:30 per km. Post race
Warm down: I just walked around. I tried stretching but my muscles were only bunching up. What limited your ability to perform faster: I did not do enough long runs in training. Event comments: At the turn around, I kept going past the cones. There was a volunteer there who said something that I did not understand. A bunch of runners had just come from the opposit direction so I kept going thinking the finish line was just around the bend. On the way back, there were a few areas that had cones but they were placed in a such a way that one could have gone either way. There were no volunteers to lead us right. One runner, ahead of me, stopped at the mid point of a hill, turned around and asked if he was going in the right direction. Last updated: 2006-05-01 12:00 AM

I got up, put on a couple of layers of running togs, had a coffee and headed out with my brother to the race site.
Coffee and a muffin at Tim Horton's. Walking around and stretching to stay warm. And, of course, flirting with the women before the race. I love athletic women!
