New user 0 Williamsburg | Subject: Patriots Sprint : Official Thread Hi...I live in the Williamsburg area and I've finally made the commitment to complete my first triathlete event...the Patriots Sprint on Sept 9th. I'm very excited! I'm basically a 'total beginner' at this point. While I've loved cross country running for years and done a few 5 and 10Ks, plus I trained and worked as a life guard for 15 years, it has been at least 3 years since I've been consistent with workouts...so I would love a training buddy!!! I currently belong to the Longhill Rec center, but I also live close to the Colonial Parkway and river so I have easy access to practice all 3 sports indoors or outdoors...I just feel like I could use a partner for any one or all 3 of the activities to push and guide me. So please let me know if you might be interested in coaching me as someone already in the 'groove' or if you are a beginner like me and also need someone to help train... THANKS!!! ~From Sharron~ |

WELCOME! Patriots will be my first triathlon in 2 years. It is a very fun, easy race. I would be glad to help you out with training if you are slow and not very dedicated, I am very much a casual athelete. As for rides, Bike Beat (on Monticello by Target) has several women's only and mixed rides a week. Tuesday is a Womens "hammerfest" at 6 pm and Thursday is a more comfortable ride (20ish miles, 16-18ish pace) at 6. The shop has rides on Wed evening and Sat AM as well. The weather is already nice enough to practice swimming...the currents are brutal! Congrats on your first tri! Feel free to PM me, as I don't often check this race board. |

Master 1440 | Subject: RE: Patriots Sprint : Official Thread I have done this sprint the last two years and love it. The only negative to the whole race (and it is a small negative) is the run from the swim to T1. depending on where the start is you eitehr have a long run or a really long run through the woods. The race is very well run and very organized. there is a woman named Miriam Trujillo (Sp?) that will be about 90 years old. she has done this race for years. she is like an eel through the water but slow on the run. The last two years the crowd has gone absolutely bat poop crazy when she comes in to the finish. I jokes with a friend of mine last year that she found the secret to getting tot he podium every time "she out lived all her competition. I will be doing either this or the HIM the day before. good luck with your training and race. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Patriots Sprint : Official Thread I have done this course several times. It's a great event for a first time tri. Swim is generally minimal current, the bike course is pretty flat and the run course is nice with the use of the trail now (used to be a death march on the parkway an unshaded mess) I live about 45 minutes from Williamsburg so I don't go down there to train much but if a group is getting together I could possibly try to make it. Welcome to BT!! |

Not like the year we did Tavewrn Sprint here in Richmond and it was horrible current with flooding and all....QueenZipp - 2012-05-22 5:15 PM I have done this course several times. The race started about 45 minutes AFTER high tide this morning. Can we say sucked in the worst wayQueenZipp - 2012-09-09 3:11 PM I was #398 if you saw me out there. Saw someone on the course that looked like you, Nicole! She had a hot chili pepper visor on for the run and her body size / what I saw of her face looked a lot like you. |
