New user 347  |  Subject: I feel like I"m being scammed....I'm looking to sell a 97 Subaru on Craigslist (my first time ever using CL). My ad clearly stated the price and the approximate mileage. Someone contacts me and asks me to "confirm the price and mileage". I was in the car at the time so I responded w/o think then started to wonder why are they asking me this again??/ Now from a different email address someone replies to my message below trying to get me to click on a website for insurance quotes. Something feels weird.... OK, that sounds like a fair deal. My fiancee Greg is the one who's buying it. Our deal is that he's buying the car, if I cover the policy premiums. Im sure I can afford it, but he wants me to show him a basic estimate of the cost before he goes ahead and buys it. btw, Jill the third name involved in all of this, or fourth if you include "Greg" the fiance... I like where she says she's "local" but not specific. I replied back asking where exactly she is and told her I would discount the price 50% if they'd bring cash and meet me at the police station I work at..

| Veteran 273 | Subject: RE: I feel like I"m being scammed.... When you put your email out on Craigslist you're going to get some bogus advertisements for insurance or credit reports or whatever. Real people just dont have oddball requests like DL numbers or filling out credit reports. I've had a couple of good dealings on Craigslist, but each time I've set up a brand new yahoo email for the task. That way, when I get the barrage of emails offering free money and mansions and all I have to do is...The spamming falls into a black hole forever. |

You can get blue book quotes and insurance quotes with none of that. Just age, location, and basic vehicle info. PLUS, why the rush?
