 Swim
Comments: This was the toughest mass start swim I have ever done. The beach was really narrow and of course the slower swimmers were the first in the water. It was elbows and feet for the first 200 yds. What would you do differently?: Be the first in the water, it was just too tight for that many people.  Transition 1
Comments: Short run over to the T1 area What would you do differently?: Nothing  Bike
Comments: There was a hill right out of transition and it took me a few minutes to get my legs on the bike. This was a hard course. What would you do differently?: I have only ridden my bike twice since Gulf Coast so I should probably go train some before I race again. Transition 2
 Run
Comments: A couple of short hills, otherwise a pretty good run course. What would you do differently?: Run faster! Post race
Warm down: Stood around and waited for Karl and Neal to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. I haven't done much of anything since Gulf Coast. Event comments: For a first year race I thought that they did pretty well. Mass start on the swim was way too crowded but not a deal breaker. Last updated: 2006-05-29 12:00 AM

All of the people grabbing you all over and then there is no where for you to swim b/c the slower swimmers have you boxed in. Good splits, though, which means another good day at the races. |

Veteran 116 Georgia | Subject: RE: Lake Dow Sprint Triathlon Great race Rocket Man. I'm fairly new to BT and have my first tri at Indian Springs in a few weeks. I was a volunteer at Lake Dow and glad the swim was not a deal breaker. They are planning to widen the beach and add more sand for future races along with some other improvements. I learned a lot watching everyone that I hope to take to my first tri. And now I know what that "funny blue writing" was on some people's calves. Congrats on 2nd AG. (were you the guy asking about providing own swim cap when setting up your T?) |

Woke up at 5am and drove an hour and a half down to McDonough on the south side of town.
Swam in the lake for about 200yds..nice water temp and clarity.
