Just wondering if anyone else crams other sports in to their schedules. I play in a soccer and volleyball league in addition to my tri training. I find i have to cut back on my running mileage a bit when both are going at once, otherwise my knees start to complain. What sports do you like to do in addition to tri, and how do you adjust your training to fit them in?

I like golf and tri to get some beach volleyball in.  The occasional backpacking and try to get some MTN biking in.  Snowboard in the winter...

Does drinking count as "adding in" a sport?

Soccer, Softball, Ice Hockey.

Softball and Ice hockey seem to alternate, summer/winter, with Soccer beign year-round indoors.

Also the occasional flag football, volleyball and kickball leagues....

I play hockey 2 or 3 times a week in the fall/winter/spring,  maybe once a week in the summer if Im lucky.

I also play golf, although not as much as I would like, and water ski.

I started golfing heavily after retiring, and got my handicap down to 3.4... now, after getting back into triathlon, my handicap creeped up to 4.5 -- but I'm surviving.

The driving range often fits in on the rest day, with a round or two in the month just to break things up... and I think I enjoy golf more now than when I was really working to get the game level into the single-digit handicap range.

Wakeboard! Although I have only ridden 2 times this summer. I used to be big into it, but as I got older other things got in the way. I have the bug to ride more again though.

Competitve Volleyball.  But am down to 2 leagues and have mostly cut out tournaments every weekend.  I do my training in early morning, and it doesn't conflict, unless I stay out a little too late for beverages...

Big game hunting both archery and rifle and some upland birds. Starting late summer through to January and then bear and turkey in the spring. I like triathlons, because they keep me in shape for the long hikes into the mountains and carrying out loads on my back. They tris during the summer.

Wakeboarding in the summer. This usually ends up in several boats rafted together for the afternoon, so I get some extra OWS going from boat to boat. Usually with a lifejacket and a beer in hand though. I do figure the core workout from the wakeboard time is part of my training plan.

Skiing from November to April (my ski area got 580" of snow last year, so I skied until May Laughing) .  S/B/R during the week and ski on the weekends is awesome. I definitely do not get many long rides in when these seasons overlap.

if you are asking what i do as often (if not more often) than triathlon training, then it's dragon boating, which season runs from march through september, during which i join my team for practice every weekend (usually then followed by triathlon training).  when there's a triathlon i am racing in, i take that weekend off from dragon boating.  when there is a dragon boat tournament, i take that weekend off from triathlon training.

if you are asking what other sports i occasionally enjoy, then add surfing, rock climbing and beach volleyball to the list.  these sports take a second seat to dragon boating and triathlon training.

it's a good life, no?

Don't enjoy other "sports", but love outdoor activities like hiking, (non-technical) climbing, trail running, and kayaking (calm water and less challenging rapids). In Asia I try to take trips where I can get in at least one of these and/or some bike touring (Laos is great!); at home in Oregon I try to hike whenever I can. Used to do it almost weekly in summer, but less in recent years due to cool, rainy weather, late snowmelt at high altitudes and some family issues, as well as training for HIM this past summer.
