Speedo Endurance jammers.  Bought them in early 2010 and just today discovered a small hole.  Only paid $22 for them but they have lasted longer than any other pair.  Actually I was beginning to hope they would fail so I could try something different.  That said I think I may just get another pair in a different color.

Seriously? How often do you swim in chlorinated pool? Mine last 6 months at best on 2x swims per week.

Usually 3x week.  Sometimes more, sometimes less.  My previous suits only lasted 6 months.

Stop buying lycra or spandex suits and buy a polyester one like the Speedo Endurance mentioned above.  They last for years and it's usually the stitching that lets go before the material of the suit itself.

+1 I have a pair of Speedos and a pair of Dolfins, both are years old, both are polyester.  I put in ~ 4,000 yards/week.  I replace goggles far more often

My speedos endurance still going strong after 6 months. No end in sight. Every swim I put themin the little swim centrifuge spinner dryer, so you know they have to be tough.

BigDH - 2012-09-20 10:45 PM good for you for letting go.

Thanks, it was a hard decision but the right one!  All of the swimmers at my pool fully support my decision

Sorry about the hijack but I'm looking to purchase the endurance jammers online (never had them before) and the sizes are by waist size...

Should I deduct an inch or two from my pants waist size or do I need to measure my waist and order that exact measurement?

Wondering what others have done when picking up jammers, are they true to waist size, do you buy bigger or smaller than your waist measurement/pant size etc?

Thanks

I have both speedo and Tyr jammers and both are the same waist as pants I have that I can wear without a belt.

I'm typically between a 34 and 36 in most pants..in fact if they made 35's that would probably be perfect....The 36 is not falling off me by any means so would you go with a 34 or a 36?

I would almost recommend going with the 34's.  It's really up to you.  They will stretch out some after you've swam in them for a couple weeks.  The polyester just lasts and lasts and lasts!!

I have never given much thought as to the longevity of shorts and why mine never last long. And now I have my answer. For that, I thank you!

I wear size 32 jammers and usually 30-31 jeans.  For me, I find the jammers a bit tighter around my quads probably because they are so massive and powerful

I've noticed exactly that too. And that would be fully polyester, not a percentage. It was the seams on a pair that failed. I shrank out of another and had to size down.

wow people's suits last only 6 months?  I got angry when mine tore after 3x a week usage for a little over a year.  And I thought it was only because I was trying to put them on while damp, because I was too lazy to hang them up to dry the night before.

Yours is either spandex or lycra. Speedo Endurance is polyester or PBT. There's a world of difference.

I go with a size larger with the Poly jammers. They don't stretch near as well.

Personally, in Speedo I would go with 36 if I were you. In TYR you could go either way, but probably 36 as well.

I am about a 31 waist. My 32 Speedo endurance are too tight for me (they probably fit just right) and my 32 TYRs feel perfect. I prefer TYR to Speedo because of the fit and feel of the fabric but that is a personal decision.

Same here, I am actually a 33 and I have a pair of jammers that the 34 is almost too tight.  With my Endurances I was wearing 36 which was a bit loose but not loose enough to affect my swimming.

Yep.  I'm on year 5 with my Speedo jammers.  I've gone through 3 goggles in the same time.  Really not looking forward to when I finally have to replace them, which will probably be quite soon as the stiching looks like it is really starting to fade and might give at any time.  My luck, it will be on my backside in the middle of a flip turn.  Laughing

I will ONLY buy Speedo Endurance suits.  They're a bit more $$, but I can generally find them at a reasonable price on Swim Outlet . com  .  My current ones are going on 2 years.  I generally get tired of the design before they actually wear out.
