I haven't broken it to him yet, he's only eleven.  But the little #$*& ran a 19-minute 5k yesterday.  And he keeps asking to do a triathlon with me.  Ha, like that is going to happen now.

Great run.  Is he a student?  Does he run cross-country?

A little ex-lax sprinkled over his Wheaties on the morning of the race should do the trick.

I was thinking a slight adjustment to his brakes might help, too.

What you've got to do is cut the hamstring on the back of his leg right at the bottom. He'll never play golf run again, because his weight displacement goes back, all his weight is on his right foot, and he'll push everything off to the right. He'll never come through on anything. He'll quit the game.

Doesn't that just SUCK!  I did a charity 5K last weekend and the OVERALL winner at just under 19 minutes was freakin' NINE YEARS OLD!!!

They said that he wasn't even tired afterwards and immediately jumped into the bouncy-house to play.

We need to drain them of that metabolism, bottle it, market and sell it!

(Congrats on having such a speedster son!)

lol, that's an awesome time.  )

My oldest runs cross country for his high school and he's hyper competitive (like his Dad).  he wanted to get into Tri's but after I stomped him in the swim a couple times he gave up real fast.  He's running sub 17 5k's now so I can't even get close to him on the running part though.

If you want to get your son back in to tri's, have him watch Andy Potts at Kona this weekend.  Doesn't matter how good a swimmer you are, the runner (almost) always wins.

Phenominal times by the way.  Can't wait for my boys to be old enough to start running with me.

That's true for Ironman, not so true for other types of triathlon.  Go race draft legal with a poor swim and let me know how that goes for you.  Even in sprint tris.....have fun with the guy who swims an 800 in 8:20 or so or a 400 in 4:15 or so.  The old adage still applies....you can't win a triathlon with the swim, but you sure can lose one.

A Kenyan 18-year old boy has logged over 10,000 miles more than the average American Cross-Country Runner at the same age.

You need to stop driving him anywhere.  He can run there from now on...

He'll thank you when he finishes 3rd to 2 Kenyans in the Olympic 10K...

Tie his shoe laces together next time.  That should slow him down.

I sometimes think about how much faster I would be if I didn't have to work, didn't go to the bar and drink frequently and didn't have any real responsibility.   I guess that would be the life...

I guess I would just be so proud of my boy, I would just be beaming to even think about how I got my arse handed to me.

I hope my kids (if I ever have them) are so gifted the can blow all my accomplisments away...

Yeah, I think you need to ride a bike while your son is running. Then you should beat him.

Future Olympic star?

Ha ha, the only performance enhancing that might need to happen would have to be on my end if I attempt to keep my slow a$$ up with him.
