^^This^^

We had deep-fried spam curds* at the fair - oddly addicting and delicious!

* spam chunks with cheesy centers, then deep fried

ejshowers - 2012-10-11 8:57 PM One word: poi.

MMMMMmmmmm!!!!  Nothing like tubers beaten and cooked until they are mushy bland paste.

LOL! - when you put it like that, how can a person say no!

I remember poi being one of the worst things I've ever tasted... so unless you add the deep fried cheesy spam cubes, I'd say stay far, far away from the mushy bland tubers.  Actually, maybe just stay away from them regardless of the spam.

Kona Beer?? I know my mom drinks beer from the Kona Brewing co or something along those lines and we get it here in MD. Might be worth checking out at your bigger/local beer depot or liqour store

OK, so far I'm making Teriyaki sliders, Luau chicken kabobs, Hawaiian pizza, and coconut cream pie. People are bringing everything from Hawaiian rice to cookies.

One of my friends is bringing a growler from Ironhill Brewery, and I thought for drinks we could do pineapple martinis, guava mojitos, and pina coladas.

Does this pass the BT test?

Fact one: triathletes can drink A LOT of beer.

Fact two: I feel funny this morning

That was fun. In the end there was way more food than we could possibly have eaten. My son, who is in college studying culinary arts, took control of the situation and did an amazing job, allowing me to hang out and enjoy the party.

Hawaiian pizza and sweet and sour chicken skewers were the hot sellers. If anyone wants an awesome recipe for sweet and sour sauce that is all natural and not some orange glop, let me know.

Don't forget some Kona coffee after dinner.   Hard to find 100% Kona on the mainland, and it can be $40 a pound... but oh-so-good!

Should be able to get it at "The Fresh Market" stores (that's where I get mine).

There's one in Glen Mills, PA and one in Horsham, PA.

I found some Kona this weekend at our local "upscale" grocery store.   $180/pound.  $240/pound for Jamaican Blue Mountain!

Wow, at that price I wonder if you should drink it, smoke it, or snort it

At that price, the practical uses will remain a mystery to me! :^)   Glad to hear that your Kona party went off well!
