Age Group Rank = 59/85
Pre-race routine:

Get the stuff together at home - start suckin down coffee :)
Drive an hour to Boulder.
Event warmup:

Stretched, swam a little.
Swim
  • 17m 32s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

Had trouble seeing the bouys in the morning sun. At 300' actually had to stop and rinse the goggles. Found the course and took it on home. Just as I realigned I looked back and saw about 20 guys in my wave just as off course as I. Might have cost me 10 seconds, not too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Should've retreated the goggles with anti fog just before the race.
Transition 1
  • 02m 39s
Comments:

Most of T1 time is running up the beach then out of T1. I was at my rack for less than 60 seconds. I did decide that I needed socks on the run since I got blisters on Wednesday night racing without. Figured I'd put them on in T1 and have a little cushion running through t1 and T2 that way.
What would you do differently?:

C'est la vie.
Bike
  • 50m 6s
  • 17.2 miles
  • 20.60 mile/hr
Comments:

This leg is the most disapointing.
What would you do differently?:

more training
Transition 2
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Didn't have yankz on these shoes so gave up a couple more seconds tieing my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

yanks
Run
  • 26m 36s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Better speed than at surf & turf just 3 days before. I'll take it@!
Post race
Warm down:

Ice water in the shade, then found food. They had the most incredible chocolate chip pancakes!!! :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

insufficient training

Event comments:

Hung out with Markdills38, juliapurr, swgtri, himself, luv2ride, macdaddy, and blackbud. CoGirl made a guest appearance too. The post-race hang out really makes the day for me. BT is full of so many cool people! ;)
And, this is the best race I know of.

Looks like you had a pretty good day for a guy that just decided to hop back into things a couple weeks ago! Who's in charge of the tent for Boulder Peak?!

Always good to see you and thanks for the heckling at the swim start.  That helped my stay calm and not think about the swim!  Nice race and see you soon.

Mmmmm!  Chocolate-chip pancakes!  Reason enough to race right there.

Sounds like you did well, especially considering your recent "training" regimen.   Glad to see you're back out there having fun.

Nice race.  Sorry to hear you are disappointed about the bike leg.  Almost 21 mph average is not too bad, my friend.  More training and I'm sure you'll meet your goal.  Nice run pace.
