I'm highly motivated or demotivated based on what's in my ear when I work out.

What are some groups or songs you like to have in your ear before a race or during a workout to get your blood pumping and to get you revved up to git-r-dun?

My list:
Eminem, Pantera, Godsmack, Disturbed, Beethoven (post hearing loss... much more driving)

Your turn.

Good list

I'll add in the Offspring, Dropkick Murphys, Bagpipes (faster stuff), Some tracks from the soundtrack to "Conan The Barbarian".  That last one sounds odd, but there are some good tracks on there to get you amped.

I know it's cliche, but Hells Bells never fails to get me pumped before a race. I try to listen to it right before I head to the start line.

I have a Playlist on my iPod named BRick Mix that is what I put on for workouts. It has KMFDM, Eminem, Motley Crue, GnR, Rammstein, Young MC, Stereo MC's, Bjork, Nine Inch Nails, and a bunch of other stuff that I don't remember off the top of my head. It's pretty eclectic. Anything that might keep me motivated.

Scrolling through my iPod's contents could be amusing for some people. I have Patsy Cline, Garth Brooks, some Beethoven and Mozart, Metallica, Alicia Keys, Cracker, 4 Non Blonds, Jane's Addiction...

What I put on depends on either my mood, or what mood I'm trying to achieve.

I forgot to list DKM and some faster Flogging Molly. Some Pogues as well.

I'll have to look into the Conan soundtrack... love that movie, but never contemplated the music outside of the movie.

On my recent 1 hour drive to a duathlon, it was Rush - Clockwork Angels.  Huge fan and I just saw them the week before.

Once at the race site, I set up transition, then went back to the car for a warm up and listened to Judas Priest - British Steel.

My ipod playlist when I am stuck on the indoor track or (gasp) the treadmill is heavy on classic hard rock and metal.  When outside, I do not listen to music.

Just saw this show two nights ago. Best. Rush. Show. Ever.

I strongly advise against listening to Rush prior to a race though. I once had YYZ going through my head for an entire HIM swim. Let's just say that music in 7/4 time is not conducive to a smooth swim stroke.

Noone rocks the bagpipes like ACDC.

I like listening to Tool, Pearl Jam, Jack White.

If you like Dropkick Murphys, check out Street Dogs.  It;s a group formed by Dropkick's original lead singer.

If you like bagpipes at all check out the Wicked Tinkers.  Check them out on Youtube - especially their video with Craig Ferguson on his show.  I also like Great Big Sea, Chumbawamba, Green Day and many others.

I'll have to check out the Conan soundtrack.
