Ok so two questions as I begin to climb the walls using my indoor trainer...

1. Does anyone know of any other closed road tours in either MN or WI besides the Minneapolis Bike Tour and the Tour of Saints?

2. Best century rides in the somewhat local area?

I did Tour de Tonka last year. Lots of fun with music and food at the stops.

I second Tour de Tonka. Great atmosphere. Fun route. Nice summer weather (usually). MN Ironman is another ride, albeit a whole different setup. Being as it occurs in April, it could be 75 and sunny or 35 and snow. It used to be a South Metro ride, but they've moved it east to St. Croix/River Valley. The route hasn't been posted yet, but that is a beautiful part of the state, so my sense is that could be quite a fun (and challenging) ride.

Another vote for Tour De Tonka.  I've done all of them, I usually do the 70 or 100 mile route.  I go alone, but never ride alone..  You find people that ride your pace...

MN. Ironman, like previously stated, is a crap shoot.  might be nice, might be freezing....

And just to clarify, neither Tour de Tonka or MN Ironman are closed road courses.  Good, nonetheless.

The Lifetime Gran Fondo on the west side. MS 150, and it's associated shorter versions.

http://almanzo.com/ (I swear I'm not a promoter of this race, there is just something about the idea of it that I really like-seriously, have you seen the video http://vimeo.com/47963412 )

Not on closed roads, but gravel so there isn't much traffic.  Free, and you only have two weeks left to get your postcard in.  IIRC there are about 400 people registered so far

Jesse James 100 (or 105 this year) in northfield.  Challenging course.  NOT closed.  Well supported.

Thanks everyone. I have done Tonka and the Ironman, though I think I have only been on the Ironman in the 40 degree and raining years...

I saw the Almanzo post here. Totally hooked on the idea, my postcard is going in the mail today

I hope for your sake it is not either 38 and raining or 95 and 30 mph winds. ;-)
