Total Time = 1h 56m 11s
Overall Rank = 1644/9270
Age Group = 25-29F
Age Group Rank = 127/985
Pre-race routine:

Had 2 pieces of toast and some water. Walked down to the race start via Bourbon Street and learned how the city cleans up after a Saturday night in New Orleans. Haha. Pressure washers and street sweepers.

Saw many a people still drinking in the bars, making out in the street.
Event warmup:

Just over a mile walk from the house to race start
Run
  • 1h 56m 11s
  • 21.08 kms
  • 05m 31s  min/km
Comments:

This went much better than expected. I started off in between the 4-5th corral and was able to hit a comfortable pace pretty quickly even with all the people. My Garmin was messed and said I ran my first km in 4:04 which I definitely didn't and then for the rest of the race it was off.

I settled into a 8:30-9 min/mi pace. I was initially thinking that I wouldn't be able to hold on but decided to just see how far I could take it.

I must have been +++ sick for Victoria last fall (hence the pneumonia after) but I didn't have any of the bone jarring achiness that I had during that race.

Really nice course, lots of volunteer and spectator support throughout the course.
What would you do differently?:

Well actually training would be interesting. CARMS and travel got in the way between Jan-Feb...so I'm excited to see what happens in a few months in Washington when I have been training!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to the meet and greet area. Had choc milk, water, gatorade, 2 post race beers!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not properly training. Still pretty happy none the less.

Congrats on a nice run.  My wife ran the half with some of her friends and really enjoyed it.  She was hoping to go sub-2 but apparently the "girls weekend" part of the trip got in the way!! but she did manage a 2:01 and some change.

Nice job, especially considering all you've had going on.

Funny about the couples making out in the street. That kind of matches my perception of Bourbon Street.

1:56:11 on what you consider less than optimal training?  Sheesh!  Some of us have been chasing sub 2 forever.  Seriously, nice job!  Funny how the city cleans up after a Saturday night.

I've seen worse... much, much worse.  Mardi Gras is like the worlds worst frat party, but with 25,000 people.

I really like this race.  I ran it last year, but this year I went to watch some friends race it (and get my fix of hand grenades).

GJ on the run, and nice bike jersey!

mmmm.... hand grenades, so much better than the much more famous hurricane.
