OLN name change

It sounds like a bad woman's razor.  I don't like it either.  OLN says what it is.  Outdoor Life Network.  Versus...I guess it's going to be the new place for reality TV...not sure.

You didn't really think the big wigs at a network would actually understand sports do you?

I get it, I just don't like it.  I assume they were hoping to advertise the spirit of competition?  But... it pretty much sucks.  Funny that Wikipedia already has the OLN name change as a listing for it.

You're correct.  I read an article about this a while ago and OLN is changing its name because of the shift from Outdoor oriented programming to competitive programming in the realm of Man versus Man (eg - hockey), Man versus Animal (eg - PBR), Man versus Nature (eg - America's Cup), Man versus sanity (eg - Ironman).

Okay, that last one was mine. 

I don't really care for the new name.  It doesn't really capture their true identity.  I would much rather have preferred 'Niche'.

When I first heard about it a couple of months ago I thought, huh? But, it's begun to grow on me. As mentioned already it's representative of their shift to programming competitive "sports" (I'm not sure Survivor reruns should be considered a sport).

If they insisted on going that route they should have gone with just "V".  V-tv.  It's better than "versus". 

V might grate on the ears of grammatical highbrow folk, but Versus is just unwieldy.

(man v. man) versus (man vs. man)

That where the network got its start.   

Hey now, you're gonna hurt me feelings, I eat that stuff up.  Bodacious is still one of my favorite athletes...  I think they could find a happy medium between PBR and hunting non-stop and the TdF 4 times a day...

I swear this tactic is a trick taught to them by the devil himself.  The solution is to somehow buy furniture that only fits on one wall and thus stymie any attempt to keep you home for the chore.

Then again, she'll just find something else useless for you to do! 

 So I'm not big on watching hunting, but I do like to watch PBR.  There is an audience out there.  and we like it dammit.  It could be dressage......oh wait. I'd watch that too.
