Veteran 945 South Windsor, CT | Subject: RE: Lake Terramugs #2 Originally posted by wintersky Hi! I am new to triathlon and am thinking of entering the July 18th race. Do you know approximately how much time I might need to get set up? I would have to go right after work and need to coordinate leaving early, if necessary. Thanks! you really don't need a lot of extra time, but I'd try to get there by 5:15pm at the latest (5pm would be better), as the race goes off at 6:15 with the women's wave usually being first it's easy to get to right off of Rt 2 and there is parking across the street in a little lot-you'll see people walking their bikes over to registration when you park. it's also pretty hot so many people don't do a 'warm up' for the run and usually and everything goes pretty quickly at registration-i was through it in about 10 minutes last year and walked over where you pick up the timing chip about 30 feet away which only took 2 minutes or so setting up your transition area will take the longest-about 5-10 minutes, and is one big open area with plenty of room ( and since it's your first, there is no need to try to get the coveted spots right out of the water heading out of the transition area)-most people will get their wetsuit on and cool off with a short warm up swim which I would strongly recommend-just to get used to swimming with the wetsuit and remember to control your breathing, keeping it nice and easy on your first Tri also, try to think the race through in it's entirety ahead of time and make sure your bag has everything you need for the race-bike shoes, helmet, socks, run shoes, belt for race number etc there are race reports from this series in the 'Race Reports' section of Beginner Triathlete which you could read to get an idea of the specifics of this course-it's low key and a lot of fun http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid... I may see you there! Dale Edited by dtoce 2013-07-08 6:01 AM |
