It's going to be close, but I think she has enough cushion.  If she maintains her 17 mm pace that she recorded for her last 4.4 mile stretch, then she'll finish the last 6.3 in 1:47, putting her at 16:45.  She would need a 19:20 pace to come in just under 17 hours.  The benefits of living in Hawaii...midnight in Idaho is only 9pm for me.

Keep going Deb.

Keeping it all crossed waiting for the Irontrac to update!

The live video feed is showing the clock at 16:10, despite it only being 10:45 PST.  Did the pros start at 6:30 and they not reset the clock yet?

ETA: Pro start was at 6:30 and AG start was at 6:35am...

1.9m to go.... last split for 4.4 was 18.19 - my math is rubbish can she get in on that?

I think so. The clock is showing 45 minutes before midnight, so she could walk it and make it in. I think she is good if she can keep it going. We're all cheering for her!

She can average 21 minutes a mile to get in before 17 hours but it was a rolling swim start from 6:35.  So if she was early in the water, she has up to 17:25 to officially finish.

Ok  I added up all her splits including transition down to the second showing on IronTrac - she has 41 minutes to do 1.9miles.

That is a good walk pace not a power walk, she can do this.Cool

I think with the rolling start it's 17 hours from the last wave.  The ones who go first get longer - that's how it was in NZ 70.3

Correct...but nobody knows when she got in the water.  It was a self seeded rolling start and your time starts when you cross the start line...just like most running races.  So she has AT LEAST 17 hours...most likely 17:10ish if she started in the back third of the pack.

They announced at the athlete meeting that all waves would be in the water by 7 and the finish line would close at midnight. However, of you start before 7, as many will, you still have only 17 hours to be an official finisher.

I'm sure they would never pull you off the course in that scenario, you just won't be listed as an official finisher.

I didn't know that...I guess if you're close to the cut off you better wear a watch and make sure start it correctly and don't accidently stop it...LOL.

I see it on the race tracker but missed it on the video unless it's delayed more than a minute or so.

Thanks everybody!!

Race report coming as soon as I get it done.A lot happened in those 16:52:26 hours lol I seeded myself in 1:45-2:00 (and did 1:49), and started at 6:44-ish or so, so I really didn't have until midnight.

What if we applied the lesson of encouragement beyond race day? The right word at the right time can work wonders.

The day of the triathlon was one of the best days of my life. I felt strong and healthy. Lots of friends and family came to cheer me on. The support was overwhelming.
