Challenges were filled with craziness and hilarity and battles of the sexes, countries and teams?

I have noticed over the past probably year or so that we all have seemed to fall off the wagon with our fun filled challenges and interteam smack talk/bashing. When I first joined BT the challenge forum was a great support to get me more involved with triathlons and motivated to train! I've even gotten together with old challenge teams in real life for events and visiting them in general on vacations!

I know we are heading into the "off season" but I for one need to remain focused on my training goals and I do have the help of an awesome coach to make things happen...but you know how it goes...end of the day..long work hours...blah blah blah...I know that I am guilty of falling off the challenge wagon for sure. But now that I have settled into residency and moving away from home....

I propose we revive this BT challenge forum!

Let's get it back together for September!

I make up lame names for things but I'm going to call this the September Square One Challenge! (I dunno..back to school, back to reality, back to challenge craziness???) I'll stick with it. I've never run a challenge before so I will need some help with spreadsheets and stuff!

In light of the name....let's make this a 2x2 format. Pick 2 tri sports and 2 lifestyle goals/non tri sports/etc.

So...who is in? Message your old challenge peeps if they are still around!!! I see you challenge lurkers...come in!!!

In my defense I had just finished Ironman France, moved to a new city and started residency.....I pretty much ended up not moving all of July. :P

It is my fav challenge though...I wasn't around for Andy this year

I remember. There were usually 3-4 teams full of people each month. I miss having that. Where did everyone go?

Well, lets do it.

Though, I have to admit, I don't peruse the forums like I used to. But the challenges had slacked off before the new set up.

Actualy, I think they started getting less people when YOU stopped showing up, Melissa!

Yes, I remember the old days of the challenge forum.  Lots of inspiring, lots of smack talk, lots of fun.

BT is not allowing me to write what I want to write.

Anyhow, I like the marathon challenge!!! Have a half in Oct and want to do a full (my first!) in Dec or Jan.

Marathon officially starts for me in two weeks.  The race is on Jan. 11th.

How should we format such a challenge?

I think in order to try and make the challenge more inclusive we shouldn't phrase it as a "marathon" challenge. There are tons of people on here who have a different focus/are not going to run a half/full marathon.

What if we do a three prong challenge? Maybe swim vs bike vs run and then everyone can pick their training focus and the "teams" (aka swim team, bike team, run team) face off against one another? Then if you want to make a marathon challenge and go for 5 total marathons run by distance for Sept you can do that but if someone wants to run 30k in the month they can too...or if not focusing on running you can pick a swim goal or bike goal.

Just my $0.02.

I agree, some folks need to work on swim and bike as well as run. It would be fun to have the three sports as three teams. FWIW, I need to run. If we do that, I'll be on the run team.

Swimmers vs. Cyclists vs. Runners

I like it!

I am SO in on this...however with a marathon focus my second sport might be my rest day adherence Tongue out

I miss the insanity of post padding threads and smack talking.....oddball team names.  YES, that is the stuff that made BT a fun place.

Dude... normal business hours are when you should be on BT. I am rarely on when I'm at home, but when I'm at work it's what keeps me mostly sane.

Finding that balance between real life and cyber life is a good thing. Mental breaks at work is how I work BT. Then some on weekends to keep up with logs and friends racing.

I miss the fun of the challenge banter.
