Haha I put a hitch on my wife's BMW so I could put a bike rack on it. She is eternally embarrassed that she drives a BMW with a hitch, but it worked awesome to get us and my bikes to Seattle this summer.

I thought about a hitch but went with the roof instead.  I don't love the noise the base bars make but being able to lock the bikes makes up for it!  Didn't love the look at first but pretty easy to spot in a parking lot.

Primary vehicle is a 2013 Subaru Outback.  My favorite is my Suzuki V-Strom but it's hard to carry the toys on it.  And for the Sunday drives the trusty 1977 Ford F150.

Aaron I love your rides.

I can not remember when I even last saw one of those Conquest's. Those are sweet cars.

As for me I lug around 1996 F350 CC powerstroke diesel. I love it still even with 261K miles. Hope it will last another 250K. Fixing to do a little work like new glow plugs and maybe new injectors.

Thanks! Its funny, I was born in 1985 so I don't really remember the car from when it came out, but there was just something really cool about it when I was in high school, like it even more now that it is a bit older. My car was actually made in the same month and year that my wife was born. But it seems everyone my wife's parents age that sees the car says "Oooo I had one of those they are awesome". Or they knew someone who had one or they always wanted one. It was pretty fast in it's day, not the fastest anymore but it is still a hoot to drive.

My dad has a 1957 Oldsmobile 98 that we are working on restoring. We take both cars to shows every now and then. Everyone over the age of 45 loves his car, everyone 25 and under prefers my car, it's funny to see the arguments between the generations on what is cool.

I'm looking at adding one on there once I can get my wife to agree that it will "pay for itself" in gas savings

I need to haul "art" work and pull a 24' camper, so we sold the RAM 1500 quad cab and got a GMC Yukon Denali XL.  Basically a Chevy suburban with better looks.  The 3rd seat removes quickly and the rear seats fold flat, so I can haul 4x8 sheets of plywood if needed as I also do home improvement work in my spare time.  Gas mileage for the AWD version is right at 15, but I try to ride my motorcycle most of the time.  I am working on my motorcycle trailer, so I can put two bicycles on top of the motorcycle trailer and go ride the motorcycle to some great camping area near some bicycle trails.

Otherwise we have a Jeep that can hold 5 adults and we have multiple hitch mounted racks to use depending upon how many people are going to the bike trails.

A Dodge grand caravan.. hate it for the ugliness and uncool factor but with grandkids in car seats it's great.  It's stow and go so with all the seats folded down we can haul tons of stuff, easily throw bikes in the back.  Gas mileage is not great though. I seriously miss my Honda CRV (which my son now has).

Our other vehicle is a 2011 Dodge Ram quad cab - husband loves it and hauls a 20 ft enclosed trailer around with it.  Sucks gas back like koolaid though.

My primary car is a 2011 MINI Cooper S Clubman. It's also the 'toy' car in that it's been custom fitted for a rack that will hold both our bikes or two 17 ft sea kayaks. That's a fun photo - the boats are significantly longer than the car! The 'van' doors on the back are great, the cargo area is rubber lined and will hold water, so tossing in a wetsuit is no biggie and it gets 35 - 36 mpg hightway. Plus, it's wicked fun to drive!

We also just purchased a 2014 Subaru Forester. Since we paid so much for the rack on the MINI, the Forester has been relegated to the dogs/fishing car. We liked the Crosstrek, but it wasn't big enough in the back for three large dogs without putting the seat down, so we went with the Forester. I don't like putting slobbery, wet, shedding dogs in my MINI, so they ride in the Forester. It also fits my husbands inflatable fishing boat thingy in the back OR all the backpacking gear for 5 people (plus the people) so it's a pretty convenient car for our lifestyle. 32-33 MPG highway (rockin for an SUV, right?!). We also like having one 4x4 car...just in case.

I would recommend both cars but the MINI is by far my favorite.

Chevy Suburban which can carry everything the family needs.  When I finish getting the new engine in, I will be back driving the Chevy C10 about half the time.

After not owning a car for more than 10 years, I got a BMW 635csi.

It's cute. Pretty easy to park, which is why I got it. I can put my bike in the trunk. I only drive once every couple of months, so it fits my needs.

I've never actually owned a car, since I've always lived in a major city. Chicago is the only city where it's made some sense to own a car. NYC and Boston it would never have happened, more of a hassle than a convenience.

Zipcar for us too.  There's really no need for us to have a car, so why have the expense?  The only thing I AM missing though, is having a motorcycle.

I miss my VFR, though currently coveting the Ninja 1000 sport touring bike.

Cool car!! Those old BMW's are very cool. I wouldn't mind having one as a project car but I am pretty sure my wife would kill me.

I totally agree about the expense. Before my current car, I just had car2go, but I never used it. Realistically, I just rode or took transit everywhere. One of my considerations for my current car was to get something 1987 or older. In BC, which I am sure you know, but others might, if your car is more than 25 years old, you can get collector's insurance which is only a couple of hundred dollars a year.

Putting in a GM crate 350.   It was my Dad's truck and I just want to get a reliable engine that I can keep running well into the future.

Same here. No reason to own a car if you live in the city. Parking alone in our 'hood is $200 a month. No thanks!

That said, we were looking at a Jeep Wrangler UNlimited (Yes, LB, it's UNlimited) because you can stand up two bikes in the back. Crappy gas mileage and I bet it rides like a Jeep, but in the summer it's a convertible and in the winter it's a 4X4. Plus you can haul everything you need and not hve to worry about getting it dirty. Plus they just look cool.

I'm still waiting for my new ride. I have an auto broker looking for me. I had a 911 turbo convertible, a Volvo XC90, and a BMW 550i M sport. My wife said we had to get to two cars so the 911 and the XC90 will morph into this:

I used to have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. If you are talking about the 2007-Present (JK) 4-door models and haven't driven one, you might be surprised. The ride is much better than 2005-older (TJ) version.

2011 Ford Explorer - I bought it before I got serious into triathlons. I do have to lay the seats down to fit my bike in with wheels on. I have a roof rack and hitch rack if carrying passengers. One of the best features is the keyless entry number pad on the driver's door. No need to carry your keys on runs or rides. Also no concerns with leaving keys in a backpack on the shore during OWS. Just lock them in the car and use the keypad to get back in.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"
