Subject: Updated BT Route Mapper

We just went online with the revised training log route mapper.  A few things happened to break when Google updated their API months ago and we had to do a near re-write.  We finally got it done now that the Garmin Connect integration is finished.

WHAT YOU WILL NOTICE:

  • Elevation data should be better than before NOT requiring a correction.

To access this feature, just go to 'Training Log' --> 'My Routes' and 'Create Map'

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map-routemgr.asp

IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, report them here AND INCLUDE your browser and version.  For the route tracker, browser-specific issues are the biggest issue.

Chrome 35.0.1916.153 m on Win7 - I tried clearing my browser cache.

I tried a couple of routes and both of them gave me crazy negative elevation numbers in the middle of the map (like -33,000 feet).  This was on the graph at the bottom, the actual elevation count in the box on the right is normal.

The other thing is that both times I started it up, it defaulted the map to the middle of the ocean off of Africa.  Can we set a default start location somewhere?

Outside of that it seemed to work well!

When testing, one thing I notice it does is that you will get some crazy elevations, but within seconds it auto-corrects as the browser catches up to the processing.  Did it not autocorrect?

You will have to put in your 'location' in the box for the first time, then it will remember it.  We'll see if we can also tie it to a persons settings.

If you get to the end of the map WITH the crazy negative elevations, please save it as a 'test', give me the link and we can look at it.

It also isn't remembering the location I enter, each of the 3 times I've clicked on create map I end up in the ocean.

Did you make sure to clear your temporary internet files and cookies?  What browser and version is it?

I can't comment on my elevation, since I live and run at sea level but I started off the Coast of Africa as well. Chrome Version 37.0.2062.124 m. I tried clearing the cache, but with the same results. After mapping a few routes, I noticed that the elevation changed when I turned off "Follow Roads" midway through a bike route. I agree with Arend as well, though, it worked fine for me.

Thanks for all your efforts on this.

Axterra....we applied a fix to the elevation. Though it will only apply to routes created forward.

Anybody, let me know if this issue still occurs and give me the saved route link.

And, the map defaulted to roughly my location at the beginning, whether that was remembering my last location or looking me up, I don't know but it looks much better Ron, thanks.

I still get some negative elevation on the graph but not the crazy numbers in the thousands.

Do you know what version of internet explorer?  It is working on mine, IE 9.  Anybody else that can chime in using IE?
